So... Not sure where this band would fit. Honestly, I find their music to be progressive sort of akin to Sikth, Periphery, etc... though their shift on their latest EP makes their music closer to crossover prog with super technical elements.
Novallo is an unsigned self-invested experimental project from Columbus, OH founded in 2006. Since its conception the band has aimed to make music that incorporates a wide spectrum of musical genres while retaining an emphasis on harder music styles. Their 2012 self titled E.P. sent a surge into cyberspace and has organically grown over 20,000 Facebook followers in addition to sharing the stage with 2015's Rock on the Range line-up including acts such as: Slipknot, Linkin Park, Godsmack, Judas Priest, and many more. What makes Novallo unique is their genre bending music which becomes apparent on their up-coming release "Novallo II". The guitar work is ala' Tom Morello with its ever changing tonalities, except Novallo has found a way to incorporate a palate that until now only Dub-Step DJ's and EDM producers could engineer. Novallo is bringing a live experience; Authentic EDM-esque guitar work seamlessly infused with high energy rock, jazz, soul and metal elements, In addition the band sports a talented vocalist who's influences range from Michael Jackson to Chris Cornell. Its not your typical sound, in fact, there have been bands that have tried but never could authentically reproduce the sound using just their instruments. Novallo is set to release their second Self Titled EP and hit the road this summer. |

Completely agree. They have very technical aspects to them especially with the release of Novallo II and its very jazz heavy influence. The guitars have a somewhat "djent" style, but its so much more than that. Its a tough call whether they could be considered crossover or metal.
