This to me just shows how much music sales suck in 2015 compared to how popular GG is now.

This seems akin to artists being more popular when they are "dead" than when they were "alive".
GG as a group, unlike virtually all other prog bands, never reformed. So technically they have been "dead" for 35 years so to speak. So maybe their future sales will outdo what they achieved when they were "alive" as a group; a la Beatles (not a good example), The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Nick Drake, etc, etc.
I think the Steven Wilson factor helps though; especially to a newer audience.

I'm glad to hear this. They were a band that certainly deserved more than this small bit of success.

If success were commensurate with talent, GG would be one of the best selling bands of all time. Yet it is always good to see talent and quality rewarded, especially after so much time. My attitude is that if the music is good, it will be around for a long time. How many bands and artists who were at the top of the charts in 1972 are still remembered much less selling well? The ideal of pop music is to hit hard and fast; eventually it will be passed over by the supposed next big thing. But the good stuff is more reliable in the long run. Hopes and prayers to Pugwash for a successful recovery.

It's interesting that that particular album found an added audience now. It's the right mix of the band's nod to classical prog interspersed with their own particularly eclectic sound. I'm sure this newfound popularity will raise its price on Amazon, also. Anyway, well done, chaps!
