Apparently John Mayer is playing with the former members of the Grateful Dead. I'm a bit surprised at this.

The guy is talented.. when he doesn't make his pseudo-blues pop songs about love.

I don't know anything of Mayer except for his radio hits from the 2000's. Any recommendations otherwise?

Mayer talented? Wellllll, okay, maybe about as talented as Dave Matthews, but with a hugely inflated ego. The guy talks about himself like he's the Savior of romantic pop.
No recommendations, just sour grapes. Sorry. |

John Mayer talented seems more appropriate for the most outrageous musical opinion thread.

His John Mayer Trio album 'Try' is by far his best non pop thing with some hard driving modern blues rock....beyond that his solo albums are a various forms of pop rock with some blues thrown in.
An excellent guitar player who imho has never really used that talent effectively yet except to write some pop hits. 'Who Did You Think I Was' from Trio live at Crossroads festival Edited by dr wu23 - November 20 2015 at 09:25 |
