Mainly just some songs. I can't think of a whole album. Well, maybe Mike Rutherford's album, Acting Very Strange, I think it was called, and one of Banks' solo albums too.

And, oh yeah, any and all of the Gentle Giant albums.

I could never show a whole album to my friends, a 7-minute piece would be already close to the edge of losing interest.

I pretty much never feel embarrassed about music I like, even if I'm showing it to someone who ends up hating it. It's alright if they dislike it.

I'm never embarrassed by my tastes, but I do know what to put on if I want to clear my house of visitors, and it's usually some sought of prog. Gentle Giant is good for getting a laugh out of people. Zappa and Mars Volta good for getting everyone to f**k off.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

An album that I'd be embarrassed to have seen in my collection?

Well, it may surprise some of my prog-snob friends, but hell NO, this soundtrack album is my pride and joy, I searched everywhere for it locally when it came out!

What can I say, I like pretty girls playing poppy punky blasts of energy (even if in this instance they were Hollywood actresses pretending to be a rock band! ) Can't fault a catchy tune!

Great fun film too, also loved the boy-group in it and their signature tune that all the girls went crazy for, `Backdoor Lover' (Comin' from behind with the lights down low...")

sounds like you need new friends man..   my friends see me as I am... the encyclopedia and arbitrator of (great) music and the wellspring to music they have never heard.. or heard of.

I remember I took Sulle Corde di Aries in to work when we had a major project and won 'the man' a bunch of new fans. Ever since then they look forward to days where we have special projects at work and I provide the music!

Hush hush, is all I can say..........but listen to Beggs' bass....... regardless of the hit 80's anthem of sorts, is musically ambitious and rather complicated...........you don't see many (if any) cover bands playing Too Shy.........because it's Too Hard. Period.

seriously though... we've seen these kind of threads/polls over the years.  What the hell is there to be embarrassed about with music you like. People don't like it, f**k it, f**k them.

then again... if one of you mentioned you had a N.K.O.T.B album and enjoyed it.. then perhaps.. PERHAPS.. one might be embarassed.

Not that they were bad of course, they did have one hell of a live show.  I think seeing them was the first step to losing part of my nerve damage in my ears (never marry an audiologist.. or especially a satanic red-headed audiologist)

What embarrasses me at times is bad judgement. I think I can play so-and-so to this-or-that person because my recollection is that to me it's quite nice and melodic but while I'm playing it I empathise with my listener friend and realise that there actually are some quite tough atonal unconventional moments to torment their poor little soul. And I'm a nice guy, had I realised in advance, I wouldn't have played it.

I don't bother showing it to people I know won't have any interest. I usually just put on Journey and Nirvana, but will sometimes sneak Your Move in there.

it was the 70's. I was raving about this new up and coming band. Be Bop Deluxe. street cred and acting cool was everything. Imagine my horrors when this new super cool group I was championing appeared on Top of the Pops, the sh*ttest uncoolest music programme ever featuring singing wombles, Village Peoples, disco crap and everything that is bad about music. It was even hosted by paedophiles for god's sake. The following day was not a pleasant experience.

Sleepwalkers? lol

did you tell them you're dealing with dumb khunts? lol
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
