One of my friends asked me what I was listening to (It was One Size Fits All) and I said "Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. But they're really weird I do not recomend them."
Another time I was listening to Aphrodite's Child on my ipod and I hope that one friend of mine didn't see the album cover that said 666...
I showed my dad Sailor's Tale by Crimson and I do regret that.
I didn't play it for them but I did tell a few friends what The Musical Box is about, and, well that's creepy enough.
I really want to make one of my friends listen to all of Inca Roads by Zappa and film there expressions. It would be hilarious.

Trout Mask Replica usually gets the most adverse reaction but I can pretty much put about half my collection on and have friends & family demanding a change of music.

More hilarious than embarrassing. One time a buddy came over to my place and I don't remember what I was playing but as soon as he walks in he shakes his head and says "Darryl and his weird music"

I shouldn't talk too loudly... I don't have a single Culture Club album. I use youtube to itch the Culture Club scratch. Rare as it might be. Not out of embarrassment though. Great group for what they were. I got rid of my Culture Club albums, and many many others, during the great beer money CD purges of the early 90's.

The only thing I remember from TCC was the Do You Want To Hurt Me MTV video... I was so disgusted (but by MTV in general) that I never paid attention to them again . I don't even have an idea how many albums they made at all.

MTV back in the day ruled man.. though MTV did ruin a few bands. Most tragic was ZZ Top. That was one red hot smokin band once. The most famous being *ahem* Aerosmith. Talk about a band that needed less MTV exposure and more drugs and booze...

For years I have played prog loudly and proudly at our engineers office. Once I played Canto di Primavera from Banco and printed the lyrics for everyone and everyone was singing lol
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

That's great !! I'm not special at all - why would you even say that ?? I enjoy variety in my music, just most folks tend to laugh at the thought of 'Goo. They have their place in the music scene and I love what they do and how they do it. I wish I was special, but I'm, well, quite lame actually........

^ Depends which 3 ?? I have Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's and Mystery Tour, (and Abbey Road and Hey Jude on cassette tapes) and that's more than enough, but I wouldn't be embarrassed by it. I'm embarrassed I have NEVER heard the White Album before.............

I once tried to get an old girlfriend to listen to a PFM compilation. She was heavily into Led Zeppelin, so you can imagine there were a lot of giggles. Also, have tried to turn on a friend or two through the years to Maxophone but ultimately came away empty handed as they thought the harmonies and such were a little twee. Shucks!

All bought by my wife....Red and Blue album also Sgt Pepper. I've never played them in full, she thought they would be worth a lot of money.
I'm not embarrassed I have not heard any on purpose....I have better things to do, like watch grass grow in the desert or better yet watch my phone recharge on my desk.

There was a period basically throughout high school when I was concerned about how cool my music was. I would have made mixed tapes that left out tracks such as More Fool Me, but being 49 y.o. now, I go pretty well unaffected by any non-Progfan opinions.
