Heep's best for me - but most albums would struggle against Machine Head (even if the live versions on Made in Japan trumped many). So another vote for Purple

Fine album from Heep, but a classic from Purple.

I think here I have to abstain from voting. We have a Heep album that is a masterpiece almost start to finish vs my favourite Purple record that in the moments, has the unmatched motor-energy.

Frankly....I have never been all that impressed with either band ('Blackmood's' guitar playing excepted)....Both have had some good  radio friendly hits  and a few longer decent album tracks but I never had them in my personal top tier levels.

btw....I think I told this story before but one reviewer in the original Rolling Stone Record Guide called Uriah Heep 'a mutant version of Deep Purple'.
LOL

Hard to decide.  If you put a gun to my head I'd have to go with pre-K Thumbs Up
Is it a band (grin) ? Whatever. Ridiculous. I mean LOL

Good polls Cristi, all those UH vs DP. Thumbs up! Beer
I pick Machine Head, because Demons and Wizards can't win with Highway Star, Pictures of Home or Lazy. Those three tracks and Space Truckin are top notch, while D&W is "just good". Paradise / The Spell is nice and all, but not THAT exciting.
It's not a landslide, but I'm sure my opinion won't change on this one in foreseeable future Wink
