I'm just beginning to realise how much I like Uriah Heep.

Magician's Birthday easily.

This. Both are great albums, but Heep will take my vote this time, though I love Fireball a lot.

As I mentioned in Fireball vs Salisbury, I appreciate Fireball very much and I give it many spins every year. Magician's Birthday is still in UH prime years, but title track is lacking. Four star effort for me, tops.
Fireball > Magician's Birthday

I don't know if there are more DP vs UH polls, but to sum it up: Uriah Heep prime isn't as good as Purple, but they were still very unique, I love Byron vocals (probably more than Gillan), and SALISBURY is simply awesome. They deserve more recognition, especially for those five albums.

The Magician's Birthday. It's basically the best Heep album vs. transitional Purple album, so no real contest here, methinks.

Heep. No doubt.
For the record ; I used to have stacks of LP's by both bands. Now, only a few of each, the Heep albums I listen to regularly in comparison.

Fireball used to be a meh album. Remastered and expanded it is terrific. But Magician's Birthday needs no tarting up to get it right this time around.
