yep...

it is Knots for God's sake.. if not for Knots ..Gentle Giant would be just another Camel. Strong fanbase.. zero distinction. LOL A 5th division band

Knots?  Nobody did anything like that.. not that good.  Enough to knock them from yet another talented prog lower division band to a 2nd division band that actually DID something with that talent that will stand the test of time.

50 years from now our grandkids will come across Knots and go..

WTF man...

Troubador, Boys in the band and Dogs life are the 3 standouts for sure. Panurge and Knots aren't bad but pretty overrated
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Panurge with Kindness close second, a beautiful song but Panurge epitomises Giant and should be a prog staple

I don't understand the love for Knots. I have been listening to Octopus for over 40 years and Knots just gets on my goat. It grates IMHO and I find myself skipping to the next track within about 20 secs. I always think this was Gentle Giant being clever, clever....and I hate it. But if you like it, then that's your prerogative.

Oh....A Cry For Everyone is my fave with another 4 equal faves.

yeah.. and I never understood the love we have for women's breasts. Try explaining that.

I think it is just natural.

If you like progressive music..  knots is right up there with loving some T&A in our DNA makeup

Panurge gets the vote but Knots and River are both great too.  Tough album to get into because I bought Playing the Fool 1st and the studio versions paled to the live "Excerpts from Octopus".  Recently though I've been appreciating the studio versions just as much Wink

^ I haven't spun Playing The Fool for years, too many. I bought a pristine copy in the late-90's for 5 bucks !! And it came with a little booklet. Talk about lucky.......same with Genesis' Seconds Out.
