My god...what a bizarre thing.

(I'm sorry...I just can't get that link to work. It's a video of castroneves' pit road accident for Pocono.)

Yeah, Castroneves is a lucky boy after that, Rossi's left front came very close to clobbering his head.

Nico's got a good chance of winning, Hamilton will be taking penalties this weekend for engine changes, a legacy of all those mechanical problems he had early season. Chances are he'll take a double change to have two engines to last the rest of the year and hopefully avoid any other penalties, but it will mean he probably starts at the back of the grid even if he sets pole. Being Spa overtaking shouldn't be a major challenge and who knows if the weather throws a spanner in the works.

I LOVE Spa.  One of favorite tracks in the world (I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment.)  And yes, I'm hoping that Indycar title fight goes into Sonoma since I'll be there for the third year in a row!  Gotta get a picture with the Indy 500 champ while I'm there, too.

Practice times from Spa, neither Mercedes really went for it and Hamilton and Alonso will line up at the back as they both have 30+ place grid penalty. Wehrlein in 11th is impressive.

Wow, Force India has to be happy with that.  Both cars in the top 5!

Here's the grid, not sure if Hamilton and Alonso are the right way around but with 55 and 35 place penalties respectively they'll be making up the back row either way. Was expecting more from Wehrelin as he was 8th in Q1 but had a loose wheel at the start of Q2 and only got the one lap in, could have been higher and should be interesting to watch tomorrow. Very close between Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes, with Verstappen the only one of the group starting on Super Softs tomorrow.

Completely forgot that the make up day was tonight for Indycar at Texas.  Watch this and tell me these guys don't have ginormous balls.

That was awesome, I love Indycar.

Decent race today, Hamilton and Alonso into the points from the back row, Lewis on the podium. Great race from Force India in 4th and 5th, Hulk just getting a little unlucky again with the podium, if it wasn't for the red flag he probably would have been up there. Glad to see Magnussen is OK, huge crash out of Eau Rouge.

And to top it all off Ricciardo had Webber drink champagne out of his boot on the podium!

^Good stuff from Spa today.  Other than Pascal Wehrlein's dumba** plowing into the back of Button, that is.

Man this points system sure is volatile. This one result and now Rosberg is suddenly 9 points behind. One 1st and 3rd is enough to swing it. Of course I maintain what I always said, Nico must stay ahead and if he dipped below Lewis he wont make it up. So like always.....Nico will hang tight enough to keep naive hope alive though deep down I know betterLOL

Good though fairly typical results. Alonso up in 7th. Dang, hope they fix this mess or he bolts...I can't continue to see his final years be spent like this.

I have to give some big kudos to Rahal. Up until now, I thought of him as another privileged follow the father into racing type, but he is the real deal. He's aggressive, has great car control, psychic traffic awareness and he thinks!
I would love to see what he could do in a Penske or Ganassi car.

Yeah, up until his return to RLL last year he was definitely giving the impression of being a seat warmer and didn't belong at that level but has really upped his game and surprised a lot of people.

As for Alonso, with the rate that McLaren Honda are improving (they're genuinly fighting Force India and Williams for 4th best now, considering they were fighting Sauber for second worst last year thats a big improvement) I can really see them fighting for podiums next year, I just hope Button's there in the other seat.

Monza this weekend, Massa has announced today that he'll be retiring at the end of the year, Abu Dhabi will be his 250th GP.

Perez, Button and (for some unknown reason) Nasr seem to be the main contenders to take over.

I'd like for Button to stay at McLaren, as they seem like they're on their way up, while Williams has struggled a bit this year.  Stoff can go to Williams, for all I care. LOL

Was just about to post that. It'll be so weird not having Jenson on the grid next year.

That said, F1 needs Vandoorne. He, Ocon and Verstappen are the absolute best of the younger generation and I don't think the sport can let them slip away the way it did with Robin Frijns a few years ago.

Jenson has signed a 2 year contract with McClaren,  but he will be taking a year off from the sport.

He'll be helping with car and team development, and there's a chance he could return in 2018.  Doubt it, though.  This late in his career, he's done.
