He'll be helping with car and team development, and there's a chance he could return in 2018.  Doubt it, though.  This late in his career, he's done.

Nigel Mansell won his F1 title aged 38.  Button is a lot fitter now then he ever was!..  People would want him back like Schumacher.  Schumacher was in his 40s when he returned!    Smile

Yeah, but comparing Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button are two different things.  And I'm a huge Button fan.  I would love for a comeback to happen, but I just don't see it happening.

People love Button and his raw talent.  He's never been in the best car except Brawn and McClaren..  He did win one grand prix with Honda during Hungary's race, his first win.Smile

Button's two year contract makes him an insurance policy against Alonso deciding he's had enough. I don't doubt that Button will have access to the simulator, he likes doing triathlons so his fitness will not be a problem and people forget that one of the reasons that Schumacher's comeback didn't go so well was because he broke his neck in 2009 riding a superbike and it took a long time to heal (and given how well Rosberg is currently doing it's safe to say that his comeback wasn't as bad as it first seemed).

I don't think a single year out would really be a big problem for him, Raikkonen made a pretty successful return after 2 years out and Alain Prost won the 93 title after taking a sabatical in 92.

What a bad race, but there were some good overtakes today.  Nico still getting the boos?   Confused
Still think Hamilton will win overall this year!!

Lewis was getting booed as well, like anyone else not in a Ferrari. Was impressed with how Nico delt with the crowd though.

True, I reckon at Monza the boos really have nothing to do with anyone or anything but simply "It's not Ferrari"LOL
Well, Nico is (as always) keeping things interesting. He is right in the fight for this title. 2 points behind with 7 races to go, anyone's game. Realistically, gah....long as he's behind I just never imagined Nico winning it all but we shall see. Technically he can absolutely do this, and I am still pulling for him.

Indy on the other hand....with Power's DNF the title is pretty much assured to Pag. Even with double points a solid finish should be enough for him to take it. By my math, a Power win would mean Pag needs 5th/6th. A Power 2nd means he would need only 11/12 so guess it's possible but quite uphill for Power.

Dixon, Helio and Newgarden all fight for 3rd...and what the hell happened to JPM this year!?

Singapore this weekend.

Congratulations to Alex Zanardi on winning Gold in the H5 hand cycling Time Trial event today in Rio, tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of that horror smash at the Lausitzring, and he's competing in the Relay on Friday.

Horrifically sad story this morning involving Robby Gordon's dad and his dad's wife, when they were both found dead in their home of a possible murder-suicide. Cry

Practice times suggest we could be in for a really good Singapore GP, Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari all seem very close on pace.

Zanardi on silver in the Road Race on Thursday and Gold in the relay yesterday, not a bad haul for him that.

Well...Nico is keeping it interestingLOL And has done what I said he never would be able to do: retake the lead.

Congrats to Simon Pagenaud on winning the 2016 Indy Championship!Clap
There wasn't much doubt, Power made it briefly interesting but couldn't sustain, and Pag capped it off in a way no one could doubt: a win. And hey, 5 wins and a damn solid year. No doubt he was the best driver.

Kudos to Will Power who is yet again 2nd. I know it sounds like a joke, but really 2nd is good and given how volatile Indy is, impressive he maintains such consistency. Always seems like he just has a few too many bad races. Helio continues to defy age.
Huge congrats to Josef Newgarden and Graham Rahal! 4th and 5th some great results.

No idea what happened to JPM this year...it feels a tad less shameful that he managed to finish in the top 10 at least, but wow. Onward to next year!

All engines are legal, it's hardly Mercedes fault that Renault and Honda have done a bad job (the Ferrari engine is actually pretty good, fairly close to the Merc on performance, they've just got a sh*t car).

Congrats to Pagenaud, not surprised he's champion, the way he drove for Schmidt Peterson made it clear he was one of the top talents in the series.

Then why are they under scrutiny................

Well done by Pagenaud indeed! Definitely the best driver this year, so I'm satisfied. Although, I admit, I was rooting for Power to at least make a game of it. Tongue I do hope that he wins it one year.

Glad to see Pagenaud get the monkey of his back and win the Indycar championship, and I'm looking forward to Montoya driving for AJ Foyt next year.  Wink
