Wow.  That's all I can say for the 500.  That was a crazy finish that I don't think ANYONE saw coming and congrats to Alexander Rossi!  This race is on my bucket list to attend, for sure.  I was bummed about JPM and Castroneves' luck, and then the pit accident that took Bell and RHR out of the running (because that could've been an insane battle), but Rossi winning makes up for all of that.

I say it every year with confidence, that's the absolute greatest race in the world.  Others come close, but the Indy 500 is absolutely the best (aka my favorite LOL).

What domination for Truex in the 600. I don't know how they created/tuned that car to be essentially perfect but damn...that's outrageous stuff.
As for the 500...I'm not someone who loves everything about America just because it's America, but damn...it's nice to see an American win the 100th running of the 500. Pretty good race overall too.

I missed Monaco, but a replay is coming up...so my day of races continues shortly. Tongue

I'm glad the 500 was as good as it was, because the 600 was probably the worst NASCAR race of the year.  And not taking anything away from Truex and the 78, because they did everything perfectly, but that was just flat out boring.  And maybe it felt like that because the racing has been so good this year that tonight felt out of character.

No, the race just sucked. LOL these dominating victories usually have that effect. Not even interesting racing throughout the field to balance it out.

Average race in Canada IMO. Shame Nico spun out there on the last lap, but it probably wont mean much in the overall scheme of things.

Not a bad race. It was good to see Ferrari was very close on race pace, shame about the strategy but I got the feeling that the tyres were very hard to read for everyone this weekend with the cold conditions.

Baku next, I gather the track is going to be similar in character to Montreal.

Le Mans next week as well, based on Silverstone and Spa it's going to be a real fight between Audi, Toyota and Porsche, should be good.

Interesting but short Texas race. It got rained out Saturday night, and they were only able to go about 70 laps today before getting rained out again. Massive wreck with Conor Daly and Josef Newgarden, Josef has a broken right shoulder and hand, but he's doing relatively well especially given the violence of the wreck. Hopefully he recovers quick, he is really doing well this year, has certainly had a car to win.

Certainly sounded like a bad crash, geting pinned into the barrier. I gather the rest of the Texas race will be held in August.

Oh wow, we missed an Indy race in there too (least I did!)
They did the double at Detroit, seems Pag had an up/down race still holds a good lead. The 2 races won by Bourdais and Will Power (shoot what happened to that guy??)

Yes, seems the rest of the race has been postponed. Very weird situation, glad it seems all will be OK

It was quite the scary crash indeed. But I suppose as an open wheeled vehicle these things can happen. I'm was more surprised when the commentators said that the track wasn't completely encased in the SAFER barrier.

Also bizarre that they have to wait that long to finish the race...is the Indycar schedule really that jammed packed?

I'm not certain the reason for the long wait to restart, I'm guessing it was chosen so as to not compete with any other sport event maybe, because the next race, Road America, isn't till the 26th.

Congrats to Romain Dumas, Marc Leib and Neel Jani on winning the 24 hours of LeMans!

Also Congrats to Nico for his win, keeping his lead cushion solid for now. Fairly standard top 10 though cool to see Perez score his second podium.

Le Mans was amazing, and so so cruel. After 30 years of trying it looked like Toyota would finally score their first victory having led most of the race, only for the turbo to fail on the lead car of Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima with 5 minutes to go. The #2 Porsche of Lieb, Dumas and Jani swept by into the lead just at the start of the final lap. To add insult to injury, because the car couldn't complete the final lap in less than 6 minutes it was counted as a retirement and classed as 46th, insted of 2nd. Does mean Audi keep their record of being on the podium every time since they entered in 1999.

And Ford win in GTE as well, beating Ferrari.

Baku looked like a very interesting circuit, very fast but with a ballsy old city section, and produced some good racing as well.

Baku would've been more exciting had there actually been a fight for the lead, but you know, F1 doesn't have much of that, lately.  Same could almost be said about IndyCar's return to Road America.  Great track for Indy, but Will Power had too good a car that day, although TK made it interesting at the end.  And did anyone else see the end of the NASCAR race in Sonoma?  Fantastic battles, and Tony Stewart somehow got back around Denny Hamlin in the final hairpin after surrendering the lead a half a lap prior.  Great race, overall, and probably Stewart's last career win.

I'm calling it now...two years in a row where a driver misses a third of the season and wins the title! Tongue

But yes...great end to the race. I'm not sure how Hamlin lost in going into 11, but once Smoke was on the inside I knew it was over. If it was his last it was a great one to go out on.
