It's about the story. My vote goes to Ayreon. I haven't put Quadrophenia and The Pros and Cons of Hitch-Hiking to avoid duplicates. The last is less known but there's a PFM remake (AD 2012).
I don't really care of what will get more votes. Let's just speak of the concepts.

About my vote for Ayreon: the story is very well conceived and developed. There's a bunch of characters moving around the main one and an unexpected final. I think it could become even a movie, not necessarily a musical. It's not full of symbolisms like The Wall, or Tommy. It's not Sci-fi neither Fantasy.

Of all.tne albums that have been voted for here, The Human Equation has the best STORY by far. Although, I think there are other Ayreon albums with even better storyline. Human Equation is the best musically. However, I do think Metropolis Pt. 2 should be on this list. That is an even better storyline with more twists and reveals than anything else.

The Lamb. I actually cared for the story and Rael's inner struggle. It's a surreal tale in parts, of course, but it makes sense. Also, my gf loved the album as well =)

The Lamb Lies Down, I love the duality, split personality concept, being somewhat like that myself. I'm a John in everyday life but definitely a Rael under the surface. In fact I named my son Ian Rael, I didn't want to give him the boring and overly religious John moniker.

The Lamb is a smart masterpiece for me. It's got sexual angst and anger---surreal wet dreams---psychology--and a good dose of humor---plus some amazing music that always fits the mood.

The Lamb. I like musical theme and lyrics together. Its may happened in "The Wall" too but The Lamb is better album. Music support lyrics very nice. You can see this in "In The Cage" song . Gabriel changed direction of music based on lyrics with his singing style. Songs seem different but they have very small common sounds that remind listeners the album's theme. in "The Wall" album , musical theme is very bold and clear but in "The Lamb" you must mention and focus to music to find it and if you don't like to focus on music to find theme , Accompaniment and Arrangement put that in your mind slowly! I don't know how can I explain my opinion more ! Fillers between songs designed perfectly to connect songs. Production of album and sounding is very solid . Style of songs fit to each part of surreal lyrics with making dark atmosphere. I don't listen this kind Psychedelic Atmosphere from Genesis before and after The Lamb.

I really respect Sylvan's Posthumous Silence story. Suicide and death are really intriguing topics to me. Mental illness, too. I found Tune's Lucid Moments to be another one.

Went with The Lamb...fantastic story line and musical execution. 3 albums not listed that are equal in my mind for similar reasons...Topographic Oceans, Passion Play, Brick. Some lesser known concepts that are also my favorites...Ange: "Emily Jacotey" & Gentle Giant: "Three Friends". As far as The Who, I prefer Quadrophenia over Tommy by a mile

I would say TAAB was a greater concept in conjunction with the album cover, where the actual story is. In that sense, the whole package is brilliant.
