Have you heard Motis, Dennis? Medieval 'Mali-Ange' prog.

Never heard of Motis.  Just had a look on their PA discography...Taurus pedals, Tron, Moog, Hammond...looks like L'homme-Loup is a good place to start.  Just looked on youtube and it seems most of the songs from the album are there...

Thanks for the tip...or should I say, "Merci" Wink

Alan Stivell should be in that list ... but if you can ot voe for two or three, it's no fun! "Au Dela Du Delire" for me!

Plenty of faves on this list Dennis - kudos on your taste in French prog (even if you're missing Heldon's Stand ByTongue).

I voted for the funk-zeuhl of Plat du Jour (Stevie Wonder's French brothers), Ange's Caricatures, Shub, Clearlight Symphony, Magma, The Strands of the Future and Igor Wakhevitch's completely baffling yet at the same time monstrously beautiful Docteur Faust.

Thanks Dave!  I'm with you on Docteur Faust...the 1st time I heard it I was like, "am I really hearing what I think I'm hearing?"  Next thing I knew I was listening over and over like a prog moth attracted to a flame of sonic psychosis LOL

Now that's a list!LOL
And those are examples why France is right near the top of my fav countries when it comes to Prog music.
From the original list which is also excellent I would say Plat Du Jour's self titled album would be my vote if I had just one. So many great albums there though.

Jean Cohen Solal, Triode, Dun and Alpes & Catherine Ribeiro are the few french groups I enjoy.

Atoll and Ange are the only two bands I recognize. The only one I actually own is Atoll - L'Arignee Mal. I ought to see about changing that.

wow, a lot of bands, I don't care for some, don't know a few.

Ange and Carpe Diem are the ones I like the most.
No vote, I have to try listening to the albums I don't know (from this poll).

I agree that Heldon should be on the list.  Also Wapassou and Malicorne.

LOL You're not the only one buddy. I remember the first time I heard Igor. My mind simply didn't know what to make of it. Truly felt like being dropped down the rabbit hole. I love him to bits now though.

Btw I copied your poll ideaTongue

I expected Shub and Magma to lead the way, but super happy to see Pulsar making such a strong showing...they were my gateway band into Frog Prog Wink
