I'm KJ living in Korea.
I mean, the south side.
I play guitar, mostly played in progressive metal bands.
But many things happened, I'm doing a solo now.
Well...
I'm not confident about my English, also not good at introducing myself.
I think it's enough for the first greeting.
Nice to meet you guys.
Thank you for reading this.

Welcome!  Are there any worthwhile Korean prog bands out there?

Well, I don't think so. Because rock music is not popular in Korea.
There's a progressive(/christian) metal band well-known to prog metal fans, called Jeremy.
But I recommend a band called N.EX.T.
A prog metal-oriented band.(Not exact prog metal.)
N.EX.T was also a most popular heavy metal band in Korea as well,
before the bandleader(vocalist) was killed by a medical accident two years ago.

I can think of many ways I would not want to go... that sounds like a new addition to my list.

yes.. where oh where are my manners.

Welcome the site KJ.

you should make that your solo moniker.  KJ the Guitarist... or perhaps KJ the Destroyer. Something with some pzazz. And dont worry about your English.. you'll find out quickly that yours is much better than many others here.

I kinda like you're point of view.
Well...
Actually I made an EP. But I don't know how to promote it.
So, The bold truth is I'm here to promote my music.
(I wrote a topic already, but it's spending now.)
But I figured it's not a bad idea to spend some time with folks here.
That's it.

it is a good group of people here. Some wiser than others, still others with better tastes in music but all generally very friendly.  Do take the time to get involved in some of the forum games. Many of us have met and established friendships beyond the forum. Even a few lucky ones got lucky and found Mr or Mrs. right.

As far as promotion.  Nothing wrong with that. Many people do. Beware though.. many do come to promote.  It is a jungle out there. We see it here even in the states, even as limited as the east coast. So many damn good bands. So relatively few listeners inclined to check you out, much less dig what you are doing.  One band in particular my wife and I became very good friends with. Multiple well received albums, spots playing the festivals, yet the band died on the vine for lack of support overall.

Good luck! You sort of do need that something ..special to stand out. A good catchy name does help.  We had one recently that I probably would have never checked up on, 11 years here leads to a lot musical jadedness, but the name was so damn catchy I couldn't pass it on.

Oh as far as my theory on heaven and hell... Micky tested.. Micky approved. LOLThumbs Up

oh they are easy to get along with... just don't admit to liking Steve Wilson or Camel.

Hey dude.. I found you a name for your musical project. All it will cost you is the first redhead to toss her bra at you.. and a mention in your liner notes. I have a collection of those.. (well both actually LOL) and always happy to add to them

I never realized how close Korea was to Japan.  I always picture Japan further south than it actually is.  Dunno why.

I was looking at a map last week and thinking the same, although in my case I assumed Korea was further north.

Welcome, KJ!  The folks are mostly friendly, the ones that aren't friendly you can just ignore, that's what the rest of us do.

Thank you guys for all the replies.

As far as I know, there's no internet line for civilian in north Korea.
Only the government and the military can access internet.

Japan is really close to Korea.
I'm pretty sure 'cause I lived in Tokyo for two years.
It only takes an hour by flight from Seoul to Tokyo.

Speaking of music.
There're many Korean musicians have passion.
Like this drummer.
