Budgie, Heep, Purple, Rooster, Jane and Sabbath seem to be the ones that resonate with me most. At least that’s what resonates with me since the late-80’s when I discovered them. There are more, but these are the bands I always go back to along the way. I used to love Zepp, but they are very selective to me these days. I never got into Hendrix !!!

Can you, or anyone else on this thread, for that matter, give me song suggestions from this genre? I have trouble getting into albums right away, I like a band more when I hear their best songs only on my first listening of them. |

best songs? highly subjective of course. Even more so that ain't no genre.. there is a fair amount of stylistic variance in there. Most of those bands you can hear (I assume you have heard songs by them) by turning on any corporate owned rock station that plays the same old songs by them and their ilk 24/7.
where they become great are the songs that don't make it grts. hits collections or corporate radio.
