hi,

My only concern with one of these lists, is that it shows the preference of "commercial" music, as opposed to more direct and honest creativity, that could be considered "progressive", but isn't because it is not famous enough.

Again, this distorts the definition of the genre and its very idea ... and, while it is impossible to get a proper definition based on terminology (too idealistic and the definition is not about music!), in the end, it would be way too subjective with distorting factors, as your list shows.

It's been said that it is impossible to define, and I say no ... classical music is pretty well defined, but that doesn't mean there isn't a romantic composer in the 20th century at all ... but in general, some of the divisions need to go, and we need to apply the term to an era and leave it at that ... I say 1965 to 2000 is a fairly good example ... and that's not to say that it can not happen before or after, sure it can ... but it means that it's time definition is already starting to date the music. This is the perfect example of Dream Theater, that while still very good, in many ways, they are dating themselves, not changing the lines and stories, or theories of music!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Also you should add how many ratings they each have.

Not yet. It will come in time, just 970 ratings to go Smile. This album deserves some more attention anyway.
