Dear fellow prog-heads and Magma fans,
a campaign to raise funds for a Magma documentary has just started. The first goal is to raise $ 70000 in order to make the movie. As a Magma fan, I'm thrilled by this project and donated a small amount for the cause (exchange rates are terrible these days!). I trust many people here at PA feel and would like to do the same. For further details, check the Indiegogo link below. In the director's youtube page (also linked below), you may see some footage. And that's it. Here's hoping this documentary will come out soon!

Exactly......Especially for a band like Magma, old prog bands are not popular anymore.......sad to say.

Some are, but Magma was never really a popular band. If it were Yes, Genesis, etc. you'd be able to get that amount (not even mentioning Floyd).
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place

They do have an insanely loyal fanbase, though. I suppose there can be no Magma casual listeners.

It's 4% funded with 3 days left.  I'm afraid to look at Emerson's for fear of a similar bad showing.  It's odd however with someone like Emerson who should have the esteem of many, many multimillionaires, who could easily carry it over and help fund it.  As far as costs to make such a documentary, I would think that the bulk of it could be made and then I think these filmmakers want theater showings, which demands a certain format, where some of the costs may be incurring.  They might license a portion of the sales so that the film gets done to larger entertainment concerns.

ALL film work is very expansive, and there are many ways to get around this these days, and a thread like this is a bit on the scary side for me. Hopefully it's all good!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
