The project/band "Now Vs. Now", based in New York City, is the brainchild of US-born keyboard player Jason Lindner, which consists of himself in keyboards, synths, acoustic and electric pianos; virtuoso jazz drummer Mark Guiliana and the excellent Greek-born bass player Panagiotis Andreou.

Lindner has had many appearances in several jazz and related albums both as a solo artist leading his band as well a sessionist througout the years (he and Guiliana particularly appear together as part of David Bowie's band in Blackstar, his last release) for what I can read in Wikipedia, and in 2006 his quintet eventually morphed into the keyboards-bass-drums trio that is Now Vs. Now, which Lindner self-defines as a "Futuristic universal live band".

There have been two Now Vs. Now releases so far, a self titled one featuring many guest musicians in 2008 and Earth Analog, from 2013. Both of them contain lots of smart, mad, eclectic and dynamic progressive compositions where Lindner really pushes the limits of what he and his band members can play, soloing and grooving in all kinds of odd time signatures and particularly featuring an excellent use of the synthesizer as an experimental instrument, which Lindner uses to all its extent in order to create a very wide sonic pallette with all kinds of melodic sounds and weird noises.

Highly recommended to all fans of smart compositions, virtuoso musicianship, JRF groups featuring prominent keyboards (Hiromi, Machine and Synergetic Nuts, Mouse on the Keys) odd time signatures and even lovers of odd synthesizer sounds!

A few songs:

From "Now Vs. Now" (2008):

Seven Ways

Big Pump (This is the official video, it's kinda NSFW-ish during some moments, so it's better listen to it with the tab playing in the background Wink)

From "Earth Analog" (2013):

Ancient Alien

Future Favela

I hope you like it!
