Canadian 90's band with two studio albums and one archival live album to their name. One of the former and the latter is available on Spotify. My initial impression is that the music sounds kind of like a folky Kansas meeting up with Camel, with a few detours into heavy prog and Neo territories along the way. Or vice versa.

From a review of Existence: 'Live In Montreal' on Sea of Tranquility: http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=17549
Existence formed way back 1991 by Alan Charles (piano, guitar, vocals) and is joined by Gérard Lévèque (drums), Éric Martin (bass), Gaston Gagnon (guitar) and Francois Beaugard (violin). Charles had been working on a concept album and Existence was the vehicle he would use to present his ideas in a live setting. The band split in 1996 but Charles reformed the band shortly thereafter and released their second album Small People, Short Story, Little Crime. This disc was recorded at the Cabaret nightclub in 1999. According to the liner notes it was recorded by a Sony MiniDisc player but at the time the band set this live document aside. Charles recently revisited the recording and was impressed enough to give it a bit of love and the result is Live In Montreal. For a live album the sound is very good. Another review can be found here: http://www.musicstreetjournal.com/cdreviews_display.cfm?id=104786. A review of 'Small People, Short Story, Little Crime' can be found here: http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=17551 and another here: http://www.staff.science.uu.nl/~hage0101/reviews/smallpeopleshortstorylittlecrime.html. It's Neo Prog according to cdbaby: http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/Existence1 A new album 'Origins' is being recorded as we speak: Neo or Crossover for sure (probably the latter - there is some Hard Rock and AOR mixed in with the Neo Prog to these ears). Definitely belongs here though. There is a fair bit of violin used in their music at times, which certainly gives it a distinct Kansas vibe in places too. Added to progfreak in readiness for one team or the other to set things in motion: http://progfreak.com/Existence-166450.html.
