I just found this record under 24 hours ago, and I've been into them for two years. It's stunning, and I need suggestions for more Tangerine Dream live albums. I've got the main ones up till Logos but I'm looking for the more overlooked ones from the mid 70s up till the early 80s period.

Great to hear, mate! I only have the earlier vinyl version of that one when it was called `Quichotte'. Stil good, but I'm pretty sure if I recall it's an edited version of the show that later appeared on that `Pergamon' CD?
I'm assuming you already have the double live set `Poland' from 1984? http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=7713 It's a damn good one, but I oddly haven't really listened to it often, which is a shame. So I'm going to spin it right now on my Ipod at work! |

IMHO, Poland is their best 80's live album, and Ricochet, their best of the 70's.
Encore is a bit unequal, but quite good. Logos is half-good.

I was going to jump in by recommending the double album Poland.....glad to see others appreciate it as well. Ricochet, Logos and Encore are all solid albums, too.

I assume that means you have the official 'Ricochet' and 'Encore' already. Each concert from that area was a unique experience and many have been availabe as bootlegs. Not always the best quality but generally decent enough. Esoteric label recently released a couple of classic bootlegs like Reims 74 and Berlin 80 officially. To give you an idea 1974 (the endless calm) 1975 (violent and mad) 1975 (source for Ricochet) 1976 (more melody) 1977 (one of the best from the US tour imo) 1980 (source for Pergamon) 1980-1981 (Exit/Thief material + lots of unreleased) Edited by Bonnek - July 14 2016 at 02:22 |

Esoteric has released this in its (mostly) unabridged length, and is now two discs long. It's available as part of a four-disc set with a 1978 show.
Brussels 1980 is, without a doubt, one of the best TD live documents out there. Required listening! There's also a Croydon show from '82 with some terrific unreleased music I've not heard elsewhere.

Pergamon is a pearl of a live album. Schmoelling's Piano work is exquisite.
I never liked the Poland album, I have it, but not listened to it for over 20 years !! Nothing tops their 70's material for me. |

The London Royal Albert Hall concert, April 1975, is widely regarded as one of TD's best in performance and audio quality. You'll find it complete on the officially released 'Bootleg Box Set. Volume 1'.
