So here is the next post within the realm of the kraut-synth duo of Dierk Leitert and Mike Bohrmann. This time it's the first album of their Circles side-project called Das Organisierte Chaos, also released on their own Einhorn Music label. The first two Circles albums have actually just been reissued through Mental Experience records (Guerssen). According to the liner notes of the reissues, Dierk used to live in Amsterdam in the late seventies whilst Mike in Frankfurt. However Circles is a Frankfurt based band which is still active to this day. Musically they existed in-between psychedelic krautrock and the new wave, NDW, industrial stuff from the late seventies and early eighties. Das Organisierte Chaos has always been described as the more rock or new-wave oriented counterpart of Circles. But basically the musical approach and sounds are the same. D.O.C. had more people involved in the rhythm section, but created a similar amazing mixture of synth experimentation, krautsounds, ambient atmospheres and wave-y guitar textures. I might even think that I like this D.O.C. debut more than the Circles debut from the same year. It's a nicely balanced album going from rocking extremes to kosmische soundscapes. A real treat serving us the favourite combination of analog synthesizer jams, NDW wonkiness and tripped out krautgrooves. Donated by SonicA |

Ended up voting for Das Raumpiloten, the Spacebox album started nicely but after a while it wasn't so good. That D.O.C. track is quite good though.

1. Suneater 0:00 2. Woodrose 11:32 3. Through the Magick Mountain 19:46 Wow, of course, some of the best neo-Krautrock being made is by actual Germans. Really cool stuff and great discovery.

AllMusic Review by Rolf Semprebon [-]Kick Up, released a few years after Spacebox, is the second of Trepte's two "spacebox" albums, and includes many of the same crew, with the percussionist the only difference. The record is far less noisy than the debut, leaving behind the harsh distortions to let the individual instruments come out more clearly. Kick Up is far more groove-laden and more instrumental, perhaps getting closer to Trepte's concept of "an authentic, cyclic structured, modal collective [of] improvised, electric live music." Not quite jazz, not quite psychedelic rock or funk, the album manages to balance all these as it offers interplay of flute, guitar, and sax, with loose circular rhythms and also some weird electronic noises here and there. The title track, "Kick Up," builds with intensity until it threatens to careen out of control, while "Introfunction" offers some violin-driven space rock skronk, and the band is still loose and fluid even on the heavier acid rock of "Earmike Song." Through it all, Kick Up manages to offer a great halfway point between the noisy energy of the Spacebox album and the smooth sound of Trepte's later projects like Real Time Music and the Move Groove records. |

Excellent album, Lewian. And to answer to Jim's question, it's simple. Search is fun !
