Topic: Mark Knopfler or Chris Rea, best guitarist Posted: May 14 2016 at 10:19 |
I think both are quite wonderfull guitar soloist, can play really melodic and spellbinding, and string bending master solos, Mark is more respected but i feel Chris Rea is way underrated in hes soloing, and should be more respected as a guitarist, not that hes music is bad either, but not my style completly but i really like hes guitar sound.

Knopfler by light years. Admittedly, I know all the Straits output, but bugger all Rea. He did Down On The Beach, right ? Great song with a wonderful e-piano solo that always reminds me of some things off Soft Machine's Land Of Cockayne album. But other tracks by him actually repulse me

no both option this time?
Lately I've listened to Chris Rea more than Dire Straits. Back in the 90s, I listened to Dire Straits a lot, especially the debut and Love Over Gold which are my favorite from them.
I can't choose, I like them both a lot.

I always liked Knopfler's finger-picking on the electric. Very elegant.

Both.....both put me right to sleep. Has Knopfler been playing the same song for the past 20 years or what?
