So, there have been many threads about which dream line-ups and so on. But Yes has had so many members, and have been with difficulty to make something good lately... and age is taking it's toll on the members... so, which of the Yes members/former members would make the best possible line-up now. I guess it would be interesting to add the possibility of choosing the sons of any of this members.

Looking forward to the new W.A.R. but not forgetting my disappointment with the Squackett release for for that matter Heaven and Earth.

Now if Yes actually merged with Asia and got Steve Hackett to join... (do the GTR thing properly) or inite Trevor Rabin (who would have been perfect for Asia in myvvvvho). Just have life and imagination in the music; not so much of the zzz factor (Squackett, Heaven And Earth and some Asia material....)

It was absolutely the best line-up. It can never happen again.  That part sucks, but at least they existed in the first place.

Of course, that was the best line-up, and even if Squire was still here and Bruford was not retired, they would hardly be able to perform at the same level they did back then... but once again, if that was the case it would still be the best possible line-up... unfortunatley that's impossible now. Perhaps then it could be the ABWH line-up, with Tony Levin on bass. But still, Bruford is not coming back from retirement. So, perhaps we could cheat and consider Asia as part of the Yes family and consider Carl Palmer for drums.

^Funny, before I got down to this post I had the same thought, should Carl Palmer join Yes. Of course the answer is NO because he won't take kindly to playing other peoples music when he has so much of his own, but as an alternative question, what members from other Prog outfits would be the best fit for a YES cover band?
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

If we're talking about what remains possible (with Squire dead), then I could live with Anderson, Howe, Wakeman, Bruford or White, and Billy Sherwood. He's not Chris Squire but then again no one is.

It's not going to happen.

Tony Levin or Jeff Berlin for the departed Squire - they did a fine job for ABWH!

Of course, would be hard to coax Bruford out of retirement:

Anderson should front Glass Hammer and re-name themselves Yes
At least, the music wouldn't be as 'tired' as it has been in recent years.

I'm interested to hear the new Anderson-Wakeman-Rabin collaboration. There is obviously no possibility of reconvening the classic lineup, and it would be unrealistic to expect a bunch of 60 and 70 somethings to perform like they did 40 years ago anyway. But it would be nice to have a touring unit with a selection of classic '70s and '80s members that performs cleanly.

No! Anything but Rabin!
