List some of your favorite highly obscure albums. I'm talking about amazing, one of kind records that not many people have heard about both in general and on this site. Lets just say you got an album that you feel your the only person in the world that listens to it, this is the place to share it.

Some examples:

Although its not that obscure on this site

Kew Rhone - John Greaves / Peter Blegvad / Lisa Herman

Here's a bunch of awesome obscure prog from my collection:

Benzaiten - Osamu Kitajima - Prog infused with the backing drums and chants of Noh theatre.

Recommended Records Sampler - various artists - Jam packed with lost classics of avant-prog, chamber prog, and orchestral electronica.

Les Poumons Gonfles and Les Sillions de la Terre - Etron Fou Leloublan - Wonderfully energetic avant-prog.

Grotto of Miracles and Torch of The Mystics - Sun City Girls - These are built around exciting uses of Middle Eastern and Indian musics.

Tweez - Slint - Brilliant and murky founding document of math rock.

Hex - Bark Psychosis - One of the all time best post rock albums, yet it falls through the cracks.

Error - Las Orejas Y La Lengua - Chill out avant-prog.

Krungthep Archives - Nimh - Prog electronic infused with Eastern sounds and aesthetics.

I A Moon - North Sea Radio Orchestra - Chamber folk-prog.

Transmission and Surrender - Metatag - Sparse, often martial prog electronic.

My recent discovery was a German krautrock band Golem. They are said to have recorded their only album in 1973 and it was reissued in the 90's. However, it is suspected that they might have been a band in the 90's, as nobody seems to have the original vinyl of the album from 1973.

Another obscurity from Germany is Hax Cel. They have also recorded only one classically-influenced krautrock album.

You have mentioned John Greaves' Kew Rhone. It's a fantastic album! I've been listening to it for the last few days and I absolutely love it.
Another band, that is probably more underrated than obscure (it's still active) is Moving Gelatine Plates from France. They have played Canterbury-style prog rock at the beggining of the 70's. I have known about them for a good while, but have not appreciated them until just a few days ago. A phenomenal group!

One more band that I would love to recommend is a Greek band Axis. They played jazz rock-fueled progressive rock in the early 70's and similarly to their countrymen, Aphrodite's Child, they emigrated to France. A great, great band!

Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

^ Häx Cel's Zwai is not bad ... and lots of Krautrock obscurities here and there, like AG A.M. or Semool. Smile

It got good publicity and marketing when it was released, maybe edging it out of this category as a result, but I never could fully appreciate Patrick Moraz's The Story of I. Blustery pop margined by South American rhythms didn't really stick in my craw.

Cozmic Corridors, Galactic Travellers, Temple, Pyramid, The Nazgûl, Fuerrote, Baal, Chronos, Spirulina und Astral Army.

Also, there is a great obscure folk outfit called Forest. It gets a lot of hate, especially here, on PA, but I think their music is very good. A thing I agree with (and the main argument people have against the band) is that they are not excellent musicians. However, with their music, you can feel a lot of spirit come through with great feeling for the music.
Again, not great, but very good and calmind music!

Just today, I have found out about about this German electronic/ambient band called Sand. They look to have released only one album, but I've only listened to it once, so I can't really tell if it's good or not. People on PA seem to hate it, though. I do believe, though, that they have an interesting sound nonetheless.

Oh yeah, Titus Goran, man! Totally forgot! I was suprised to read they were American. And  prices on those Indian Summer records have skyrocketed recently!

Most of these are known by those of us here at PA....but I like his presentation of the bands and I'd love to see his record collection in person.....

Purge Solenoid is an obscure band whose eclectic stuff I've really enjoyed.

No one really knows, all those albums and samplers where recorded by more or less the same guys.

I think saying that they are lost recodings form the 70s gets you more buyers...

Then it was a good thing I found my sampler copy in a discount bin for 7 dollars.

My favorite obscure albums are by Sweet Smoke - a hippie jam band that recorded 2 studio and 1 live album.
