Looks as if nobody but Jean and I are interested in opera. We have the good fortune to have fifteen opera houses in Northrhine-Westphalia (one of the sixteen federal states of Germany). Nowhere else in the world are there as many opera houses in such close proximity. We go to the opera about fifteen to twenty times per year without seeing any production twice; the latest we went to was "Don Giovanni" here in Cologne on Apr 15th. It is a costly hobby, but one we thoroughly enjoy.

My vote went to the "Bell song" as being the most difficult to sing. It is also my favorite of these, though "Der Hölle Rache" and the "Doll song" come close.

I love all opera (well, with exceptions) but my primary love is the symphony and orchestra music and in the vocal world oratorios and, yes, operas, but I would be lying if I said I remember all arias by name. Though I have heard all the operas you listed, the only aria I recognize by name only (can't play the videos right now) is Der Holle Rache from Die Zauberflote. It's glorious and I voted for it. I may give more of an opinion later when I can actually play the videos.

I'd say though that arias for coloratura soprano from the baroque era in my ear sound more difficult than anything else. I love baroque opera almost above all (mostly the music, the librettos not always really).

Alas, in this moment, the sole opera that I would like to hear are the works of Verdi.
But I will watch/hear the videos to participate to this poll.
