Hello. As the title suggests, I'm looking for progressive music, songs or albums, with themes of abandonment, wretchedness, of being a vagrant, and of being unaccepted and unwanted. Genre is not important, but I'm looking for understandable vocals and evocative musical accompaniment.

Here are some examples of what I mean:

"I'm just a clown in the eyes of the world / guess I'm a clown in the eyes of the world."

"
Freak of nature, pay to see her / eyes surround her like a fever."

"What would they care if I did stay / no-one would know." (around 5 minutes)
I didn't know this until I minute ago when I looked up the song on youtube, but apparently Still Life is a concept album where "
The main character is kind of banished from his hometown because he hasn't got the same faith as the rest of the inhabitants there." (http://www.metalupdate.com/interviewopeth.html) Fitting.

Thanks all,
Kaivoks

Ah, thought of another one that fits:

"I stood alone upon the highest cliff-top / looked down around and all that I could see / were those that I would dearly love to share with / crashing on quite blindly to the sea."

I think the title track of 2112 by Rush has elements of it ("Just think about the average / what use have they for you?"), plus "Subdivisions" ("be cool or be cast out") by the same band.
He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

Spock's Beard album "Snow" would fit the bill.

Regarding unwanted and an outcast.......the whole Tommy concept album by The Who certainly fits imho....but maybe that;s not what you are looking for.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Gian Pieretti.  This is an RPI concept album about a boy's struggle with homosexuality at a time in Italy when it was still quite taboo, enough so that the record label dropped him and didn't promote it.

Not a bad album though very hard to find on vinyl.

Another RPI masterpiece, Jumbo's Vietato ai Minori di 18 Anni?, deals with themes of abandonment and marginalization. The opening song, "Specchio", has some of the most powerful lyrics in all the prog genre. It's a pity not many people can appreciate them, as they are not in English.
