 Topic: How do you pronounce band names?

I know everyone out there has experienced a band or two that has a name that is either in a foreign language or just plain weird enough to give no clues or just have an ambiguous spelling that can suggest various ways of saying their name. I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread where we can help each other out with how to say a band name correctly.
For example, for the longest time i was calling the band HAKEN as "hockin" like "hockin' a loogie! but i found out the band name actually rhymes with "bacon"
My first question for the French speakers out there is how did Catherine Ribeiro pronounce the first band name before they become Alpes. Was 2 BIS pronounced TWO BISS or TO BE. I would guess the second but who knows in the wild world of prog.
Here's some ones i just learned SUJAN STEVEN (soof-yawn stevens)
BON IVER (bone e-vair)
PERE UBU (pear o-boo)

I think that 2BIS might be 'deux-bis' or début (English = debut).

There's a similar thread somewhere in which somebody explained how to pronounce "Änglagĺrd" (can't remember the title of the thread, though).

LOL. I think you are right. Except for their last few albums where i pronounce them "DEFINATELY NOT!"

I did a quick search for a similar thread but didn't find anything. I figured it would be good to have a general thread on how to pronounce band names since i come across quite a few that leave me baffled

Ahh, deux makes sense. Does the BIS pronounce the S at the end?

Actually, bis is Latin. Meaning: twice, again. Maybe a jeux de mots (play on words). I believe also that the S is not pronounced in French.

Do you pronounce IZZ as "is" or as "I Z Z" (or "I Zed Zed") or as Izzy? I've always gone with "is"
Another one that was previous discussed was Haken (as in rhymes with bacon or more like hock-in).

That's the case for Portuguese: Bis! Bis! Bis! (with the S clearly pronounced). There's also a verb, bisar (to perform an encore), regular and conjugated in all tenses and persons.
For the French language, I found that either pronunciations occur: /bi, biz/ but the one with the final S being pronounced is certainly more correct.

No, no. Those words start with X, which means you have to append the syllable "ig" to the front of it. Like how the name Xavier is pronounced Igzavier. So it would be "igziu igziu".
