Bis can also mean encore!

That's the case for Portuguese: Bis! Bis! Bis! (with the S clearly pronounced). There's also a verb, bisar (to perform an encore), regular and conjugated in all tenses and persons. Smile

For the French language, I found that either pronunciations occur: /bi, biz/ but the one with the final S being pronounced is certainly more correct.

Thanks Dean and Atkingani. Now i can recommend them to others with confidence~~~~~!

How about the Swedish band Dungen ??
Is it like Dun-Jen, Dung-en, or what I believe is the correct way to say it - Doon-yen.

I've been wondering about this myself Tom...

I can add  a few more I'm not sure how to pronounce correctly:

Abus Dangereux?
Archaia?
Gevende?
Maneige?
Vos Voisins?

And btw the avant band Ahvak should be pronounced simply as Avak meaning Dust.

Does anyone know how COS is pronounced?

Does it rhyme with row, rose, moss or cause?

Or since they are Belgian does it have a silent S in French style?

It could have a silent S... if the name was a French word (and it's not).
I guess it would rhyme with "moss": to make it sound "rose", it would need a final "e".

Oh, by the way, in French, the letter "e" is to be pronounced "euh" (err) or "oeufs" (eggs) or "eux" (them).

I hope to have been helpful.

I hate to go off-topic, but I think Postaeolian Train Robbery is a bit better than Viva Boma - much fresher. But yeah, such a great band.

Do you pronounce IZZ as "is" or as "I Z Z" (or "I Zed Zed")  or as Izzy?  I've always gone with "is"

That confused me for a while but I've heard a radio interview with them when it was pronounced as "is" so I assume this is correct.

It's a bit tricky to try to explain because the Swedish pronunciation of the U sound is very rare and to complicate it further there is a short and a long variant. Dungen should be pronounced with a short U, a bit like the U in the exclamation duh!. and with an NG sound like in "young".  Duh-ng-enn. Of importance is also how you intonate the syllables. Put the stress on the first and you get the name of the artist, otherwise the word means Grove.

Are you confused yet? LOL

It's a tricky one: I'm not an expert on Kobaïan, but I think it's to be pronounced like in German: [Vaidoriee].
