Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I've just noticed this on the BBC web site http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/evfwhn/live/cx8g9r

"Plus Pink Floyd have also announced details of a box-set comprising of the band's early material and rare recordings.

The Early Years 1965-1972 is a 27-disc, 130-track multi-platform box-set and will be out in November."

Holy Censored, 27 discs? That's gonna be really expensive. Not that I'm complaining; if the set doesn't get watered down between now and November, I'm getting it.

I hope you read the thread and see the individual discs in the box will be released against each other early in 2017. This year I can get the 2CD in November but not the box.
However, come Jan or Feb I'll be able to buy the first 3 discs and the one with Atom Heart Mother BAND ONLY(!!!). No idea if I'll be able to get them all but this is a better reissue than The Beatles Anthology series.
I don't expect as in depth boxes for Pink Floyd 1974-1984 etc, as I think the amount of material being released is to show how the band strived and toiled away to become the monster Pink Floyd still delighting people to this day.
Everybody will be able to buy each disc at their own time early next year.
There really is no downside to this.
Go out and p!ay and count your sleeps down to release date!

The box set to rule them all – Pink Floyd overdose!

The Early Years 1965 – 1972 is a brand new, mammoth 27-disc Pink Floyd box set that frees over 25 hours of audio and visual material from the band’s archive to deliver a deluxe package that features unreleased tracks, BBC Radio Sessions, remixes, outtakes and alternative versions, live and TV performances and original quad mixes..

Packaged in an extravagant seven individual book-style volumes the content includes over 20 unreleased songs, more than 7 hours of previously unreleased live audio and over 5 hours of rare concert footage, along with five  7″ singles in replica sleeves, collectable memorabilia, feature films and new sound mixes.

Pink Floyd The Early Years – seven volumes

Previously unreleased tracks include 1967’s Vegetable Man and In The Beechwoods, which have been mixed for the first time, specially for this release.

The Early Years also includes over 40 items of archival memorabilia including: posters, flyers, tour programs, tickets, press advertisements, & much more.

This set includes orginal quad mixes of Atom Heart Mother and Echoes, a 2016 remix of Obscured By Clouds, a new 5.1 mix of Live in Pompeii, and the films More and La Vallée (Obscured By Clouds) – but that only scratches the surface! Check out the full track listing below and give your bank manager a call, because it ain’t cheap!

WTF??? They missed the legendary Dictaphone recordings of Syd's bowel movements over March to April '66!

This is a scandal and an outrage. I'm starting an online petition for all true Floydians to boycott this piece of sh*t

It could be a nice Christmas present for my father... if my two brothers, my sister and I join our forces (and our funds, of course!).
Still, it's a bit extravagant.

Quite a freightload of raked up leftovers in this collection. I may be a native Pink Floyd fan, but on reading this I can only force myself to a pitying smile when I'm in good shape.

Kind of disappointed that hey didn't include any studio versions of "Reaction In G", the Montreux version of "Astronomy Domine", the instrumental version of "Vegetable Man" or the rest of the Dec 1967 BBC sessions. Other than that, I really like what I see.

Crowdfunding might be a good idea.

Can I afford it? No

Do I need it? Not really

I'm still wondering why I bought the immmersion sets.

but I'll probably get one or two volumes if they effectively went on sale separately.

They have the video content in both DVD and BD, but no VHS tapes? Shocked Seriously though, it seems like they did that to ask for more money for the set. Anyone can buy a Blu Ray player these days, especially if you can buy this.

LOL, that boxset is massive, and that's only the early years (27 discs). Wait until they release Pink Floyd: The Oeuvre -- The Complete Boxset of Everything Pink Floyd Thus Far, but first they will do the Not So Early Years Boxset, then The First Few Years After The Not So Early Years Boxset etc. And then there will be a new remastered version called The Ouevre Redux and then another version called The Complete Ouevre with hundreds more discs of previously un-released stuff, then The Definitively Complete Ouevre and so on....

It reminds me of this:

$600 USD?

Well I suppose living in a box wouldn't be too bad. At least I got the Pompeii footage.
