Khan - Space Shanty (Literally the most perfect album we possibly could have chosen to listen to while driving out of the city into the mountains to do some stargazing)

And man how awesome is that Ram album!

I came across that second Mandalaband album by complete chance, Sagi, and it was only $8. It's kind of like a cross between Alan Parsons Project and a Rick Wakeman solo LP, pretty melodic but with really (unsurprisingly!) grand and over-the-top symphonic elements. I think it's rather good, but it also makes me cringe a little! Still, no buyers regret!

That Ram album....I found it thoroughly ordinary. To me every track felt like pale imitations of far better bands and albums. The vocals were a pain in the ass too, such a show-pony singer...and don't get me started on him on that Mumma's Day song or whatever it's called!

Still, it's easy to listen to and to enjoy, but just...not very special to me, sorry, mate.

Sorry, mate, might have forgotten to mention that I picked it up a few months ago. Hate to say it, but I am NOT a fan of it. The long track makes me cringe with that infantile kitsch repeated vocal line, and I find all the racing effects embarrassing, and some of the instrumental melodies really too `pretty'. There was some better stuff on the second side, but it all seems rather simplistic and a bit too `fluffy' for my liking. I honestly cannot believe it holds such a strong reputation, I could mention dozens of `krautrock' discs I find to be superior! I'm on about my tenth listen by this point, so I don't expect any magic to happen any time soon with it. Think I might have to stick to their earlier albums.

Ahh, now how did you go with that one, mate? That was the first album I ever owned from them, and I hated it for quite some time. It's very harsh in places, pretty experimental. Nowadays I lap that short of thing up! But back when I was an electronic newbie, no thank you!

I'm betting David likes this one? Pretty sure if I remember he's a bit of an Orb freak?!

^^ Ah, that's too bad. Try not to take it so seriously (or anything by them really) and imagine how it would have sound in 1974. I don't think it's a great album but for me it's just plain fun and while I agree with the flaws you pointed out, I like the album because of them :P

^ There's not much to say at first listen especially since I heard it at low volume because I was not feeling very well. It seemed quite diverse and definitely interesting though.
