Yeah. Take it easy. I’m doing the same.
Been wrestling with a very challenging and frustrating task at work for weeks now, I just can’t seem to cook the numbers in a way that our director is comfortable with. So I’ve retreated to a back room, a cool, moodily lit room with 2 chairs, a window, and no other furniture (I call it my “straitjacket room”). Got my feet up and listening to:

Oregon | Distant Hills

Prior to that, and relaxing in a different way, was:

The Dead C | Harsh 70s Reality

Usually I bring a laptop in here to keep working but right now I need to clear my head.
My other avatar is a Porsche

No problem Samuel. I was about to pop on Headhunters but then decided to go for the lesser known brother in Thrust. Same kind of funk drive although not quite at the same level as HH. Funny thing about the Headhunters band is that Herbie actually came from the Mwandishi group with an all Afro-American band....and then cam back with a white drummer and wound up sounding far more earthy and funky.

Yesterday evening and this morning:
Samuel Cadima - Cascata (man I need a tapedeck!!!!)
Oren Ambarchi - Hubris
I really like the closer with that Jungle beat.

It's pretty hard to be on the same level as HH. Have you heard the albums of the band without Herbie? They're really cool too. Who said white dudes can't Funk? LOL

I have three, I'll send you one Tongue
Hmm, I should give my copy another spin.

means being in an Ariel Pink mood for me. Pom Pom was spun thrice
yesterday...but maybe that was just me being in a pink mood. Saw Pink
Flamingos (the flick) as well.

I'll let myself throw in that I'm really excited, as I will get to see both John Maus and Ariel Pink at a festival in less than a month. Smile
Maus and Pink are summer music, yeeaaa! As a side note, just around a
few days ago I started playing with this really cool Ariel Pink-esque
hypna-psych-jazz-rock group.

Hi Tymon
Sorry I missed you here the other day.
Ariel-Pinkesque-Hypna-Psych-Jazz-Rock? You don't say! I am interested in hearing how that turns out. Remember always add more bassoons.

Ahh gotta love the zen breaks one often has to pull in order to cook up the right result. I've got my falr share of those as well although they tend to revolve around messages to mad parents who feel their autist kid is the next David Helfgott because they once saw the flick and kinda like pianos.
Oregon is pure zen.

I’ve been a big Jack Bruce fan all my life, and I’ve always enjoyed this album a lot despite my general indifference to jazz (more so when I was young, but I’m slowly gaining a better appreciation of jazz as I get older).

speaking of albums I always loved despite my indifference to jazz, this album was a frequent play in my house by my dad when I was a kid. I thought of it then as ideal dinner music (and I’ve used it that way many times) but it’s such an inventive work that I always love listening to.

Me too, always really love his songs in Cream. Somehow his solos had long been the ones "have to listen them someday". Finally I listened the whole "Songs For a Taylor" and yes, it´s masterpiece, really love the whole album! I am not also ever been big jazz fan, really love some Coltrane, Miles Davis and of course Sun Ra, but there it is. Didn´t know anything about that Bruce/McLaughlin/Hiseman/Heckstall-Smith-album before yesterday, it is ok, but really love more Bruce´s first. Going to listen his next solos soon!

What about those Ranaldo & Body/Head-albums I listened yesterday, they´re both quite new, have you heard them? I think in that Ranaldo album are two really great songs, the rest is also good, also liked quite much that new Body/Head-album.

That's nice, I'll have to try it that way someday. I bought it last weekend and I only noticed it's a piano-solo concert when I played it. I thought it would be boring but it's really not. Well, maybe it's a bit too long for that kind of music.

Any love for the Soft Parade? It's a personal favourite of mine, despite all the negative opinions.

Yesterday:
The Spacelords - Water Planet
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out (Finally got myself a nice copy of it, the best sounding CD release supposedly.)
