I'm gonna be a wet fish and state that a lot of the tracks that have been put forward are not "songs" e.g. Boys In the Band by Gentle Giant...it's an instrumental. "Songs" mean singing.

Yep, I am a wet fish!

Interpret the title of the thread as "Greatest Prog Tracks Ever", then.

I'm done. I am in no way happy with the end result, but there is only so much one can do when one's record collection is far afield. This whole thing genuinely makes me want to transfer everything onto an external harddisk and then try out that 'nas' thingy my friend was on about.
This little list really made me go loopyPinch

I did that 2-3 years ago; it was quite some effort but I'd say it paid off easily, it put my music listening one level up, I'd say. Among other things it made me discover progarchives in the process of decision making, "what else should I have?".

By the way, is it just possible to update the list until the deadline?

Was Trying for 300, but as this is the deadline, stopping at about 250. Definitely missing some stuff, and definitely not set in stone!, But pretty good.    Ranking prog songs is like jumping from sub-genre boat-to-boat to figure out how it all fits.  I think I'm a bit biased toward longer tracks (artsy composition is one of my criteria, I guess).  Sorry if some text got cut off, (I'm pasting out of a spreadsheet).

Thank you for everyone who submitted their lists, the contest is now closed. I'll soon begin to compile the final results and should have the final list posted in the weeks to come. Thumbs Up

I think you may just be my new favourite person ever. Hug

Not only was your list super easy to put into excel, but I'm in love with your selections. Bubu for the win!

Thanks!  (Dang, with that hug icon I was hoping you were like some hot chick, but, guess you're prob not--well, that's ok Embarrassed).

Yeah gotta admit Anabelas is a truly great album! Found out about it here on the P-archives.

So, one mistake in my post: 120 should be the track/song "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway", not "Chamber of 32 Doors" (Its was repeated; I copied the line and forgot to change track).  I edited it in post.

Also, 212, Gazpacho: "Dream of Stone" and "Massive Illusion" are separate tracks, but kind of similar, so I couldn't decided. I guess just rank them both the same.

It  will be very interesting to see results.
