I find it damn near impossible to come up with a list of my own, so I'll probably refrain from doing so. If I were to make one, I would list Floyd's Atom Heart Mother near the top. That much I know...as for the rest?Wacko

Don't feel too obliged to get a list made hastily, there's still close to three weeks to think about it. Even if you just make a short list of all-time favourites, even if it's under 50 songs, I could still count it.

This is as good a reason to finally get a working account as I'll ever get. Too bad I missed the album lists.

Technically, all of these artists are on Progarchives (which helped narrow down the choices a lot), but a lot of these stretch what might be considered prog. I can edit out the vaguely un-prog stuff if necessary.

I do wish this list weren't so incredibly... male, but most of my favorite female artists aren't prog and aren't on this website.

Only one on the list that I won't be counting is Dark Star (unfortunately, mind you; it's one of my favourites, too) but only because the Grateful Dead isn't listed on the site.

Here's a little teaser/update for all y'all:

So far I've received 11 complete lists and lists-in-progress, spanning 647 unique prog tracks. I've tallied up the scores from the lists people have posted already, and right now our top 10 consists of:
  • 2 ELP tracks
  • 2 Genesis tracks
  • 2 King Crimson tracks
  • 1 Pink Floyd track
  • 3 Yes tracks
Like what you see? Keep posting your lists with more from these artists. Don't like what you see? Keep posting your lists to bump up your other favourite artists. We still have a ways to go, so there's plenty of time to get ranking before the August 26th deadline and plenty of room for the ranks to change!

Tip/Suggestion: If you do it in excel, you can then easily code it to add #. and -'s, then import it into notepad, then quickly paste it here.

Thanks for doing this! Ok, i sorted and moved and changed all night and morning with windows media player.

9 days left to go before I start tallying up the official results. We've got almost 900 songs by hundreds of different artists ranked. Thanks again to everyone who's posted their lists or is still in the progress of adding to theirs, this has been a pretty fun project for me to work on, too.

Here's a bit of a speculative teaser that I've roughly eye-balled. The top artists with the most songs in the (current) top 100 are:
