Alex's Hand
Alex Hand is a guitarist, currently based in the San Francisco area. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno's jazz program in 2011. Alex was born into a musical family and started playing guitar at the age of 11. His musical journey has taken him from classic rock and punk to classical guitar, blues, chicken-pickin' country telecaster, jazz and the Django Reinhardt tradition. Recently back from studying in Eastern Europe, he's been focusing on European folk styles, including Bulgarian, Romanian and Irish. NEW ALBUM: 2016 - Künstler schBe Tracks: 1. Mars Travolta. 6:52 2. Samba. 10:19 3. Oh Bill. 5:56 4. Trained. 2:46 5. Slave. 14:27 6. Back to Evan. 0:49 7. Evans Lips. 8:48 8. Habibs. 11:33 Total Time: 61:32 Musicians: - Nic Barnes / Drums, Percussion, Vox - Kellen Mills / Bass, Vox, Synth, Found Sounds, Electronical Touchups - Ben Reece / Electric Guitar, Vox - Max Steiner / Electric Guitar - Rieko Okuda / Keys, Synth Additional personnel: - Carl Andrew O' Sullivan / Vox - Johannes Schleiermacher / Flute, Baritone and Tenor Saxophones - Charlotte BirkenHauer / Vibraphone - Peter Kuhnsch / Hand Percussion, Whistles, Bells - Rob Mattessi / Trumpet - Otto Horvath / Trombone - Stephen Barnes / Piano released August 5, 2016 "Kunstler ScheiBe is a Major Work with a capital M and W. Comparisons with Frank Zappa, Mr Bungle, and The Mars Volta are valid but don’t really tell you much. Sections of willful and difficult complexity are offset by chaotic improvisation, non-sequitur stylistic shifts, and goofy humorous touches that continually defy expectations. This is epic prog for the attention deficit crowd, building numerous seemingly unrelated sections into lengthy suites and not coming off like some kind of digital collage... This is a seemingly endless fountain of ideas, and from what I’ve heard, they’ve got more in the works already. Every hill they climb is a little higher than the one before, and the territory ahead is covered by fog until you get closer, revealing a still-higher summit. Don’t miss out on this, and if the first listen leaves you baffled, give it another." – by Jon Davis at "Expose" Edited by ProgCandles - August 07 2016 at 11:07 |

I'd just like to add what a very well put together suggestion I thought this was.
Raff (of the RIO/Avant/Zeuhl Team) is already familiar with these guys to a degree, having already mentioned them on her Fire Of Unknown Origin website: A Light in the Black – 2014 in Review, where she describes the album 'Alex's Hand presents: The Roaches' as furious “pronk”. A couple of lengthy tracks from it are available to listen to on bandcamp: http://alexshand.bandcamp.com/album/alexs-hand-presents-the-roaches, and most of the band's earlier releases (plus the latest album 'Künstler ScheiBe' which is given to us in the OP via R.A.I.G. Records bandcamp) can be streamed in full via their own bandcamp. Edited by yam yam - August 07 2016 at 15:08 |

Except for the fact that the bio above has nothing to do with the band and appears to be the result of googling Alex Hand and getting a guitarist. There is no Mr Alex Hand in the band. Here's the real one ALEX'S HAND is polystylistic avant-garde, experimental rock group centered around bassist Kellen Mills and drummer Nic Barnes. It was launched in Seattle, Washington in 2011, and is currently based out of Berlin, Germany. Dabbling in everything from rock, metal, jazz, avant-grade, classical, progressive and experimental music, ALEX'S HAND has self-released three full-length studio albums, two EPs, a live album, and an album of spontaneous live improvisations. Aside from their studio ambitions, the band has toured extensively throughout the United States, France, the UK and Germany, organized festivals (including "Avant Garden" in Seattle), and played various festivals (including the famed "SeaProg" in Seattle). ALEX'S HAND has written and performed theatre productions (including "Moldy Pony" staged at "Cube", Berlin). Having relocated to Europe has opened up ALEX'S HAND to even more opportunities and prospects for the future including the orchestration and staging of "Zombie" (a full scale theatre production to be held in Berlin), "Moldy Pony 2: The Horse" (a 2-hour recording project with a 23 piece orchestra), "KatataK" (a jazz-rock album composed with guitarist Ben Reece), as well as tours through West and East Europe. The band's current live line-up is: Kellen Mills (bass), Nic Barnes (drums, percussion), Kenny Stanger (guitar), Matt Kennon (tenor-sax), Roberto Vicchio (trumpet), Davide Piersanti (trombone). LOL! The operation was a complete success...But the patient died!
Hey - it was a very well put together suggestion - following the guidelines pretty much to the letter - & not many suggesters on here do that these days. Just a bit of a shame that one bit of it turns out to be totally false! I never doubted any of the info at the time, since it all looked so impressive, and thus never checked it out for validity.
