I like Maneige, Les Porches is a favourite album for me, and their remaining 70's output is great too. But, oh man, Queen are just in a different league.

Queen, just for their first 4 records, after that, they got lost in a pop oriented tendency that made they quite famous, but they lost almost all their excellent writing/composing output.
Umm. I don't expect these two are comparable. Very different beasts... Well, in fact I didn't know Maneige before but I listened to Maneige's three first record. It's quite right (sometimes one can find something not widely know even in these days :-) ) but it could be better to compare Maneige to Harmonium maybe, it would be more appropriate. Queen is usually considered as proto prog on Progarchives and rightly so. But Queen's first four records (till ANATO in 1975) are great ones and could be easily count as prog rock records (especially Queen II). May's guitar and Mercury's voice are unmistakable and their song writing skills was fantastic. Not to mention vocals. Well, first Queen records you can compare to almost every progrock classic and to be honest - Maneige definitely isn't any progrock classic. Queen wins by light mile.

Queen by a mile because of better song writing and production. Maneige was a good band, but they're not even in the same league. I'm not sure the two can even be compared.
This. Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack are light years ahead of anything by Maneige.

I had forgotten there was a band called Maneige. I relistened to a few songs today (I liked "Les Porches de Notre Dame" from hearing it in the late 70s visiting friends in Ottawa); unfortunately, I'll forget about them again by tomorrow. Queen, particularly their first four albums, blows this band to smithereens. No comparison.
