All great songs but I don't think they would qualify as quirky. 

I think an album full of songs like this would be Gentle Giant's "Octopus."

You mean the mexican Cafe Tacuba? I never thought of them as remotely proggy... though to be perfectly fair, I never liked what I heard from them very much, so I didnt' dig any deeper. Yeah, probably a bad example, haha. It seems like most of the community on this site don't like Cafe that much, which really shocked me.

I loved them from first listening to Yosoy, and sharing the album with my close friend, he looked at me and genuinely THANKED me for showing him the band. 

They can get as prog as you want, Reves is a full-instrumental (not accessible at all, even for fans of the band.. a masterpiece), but the companion-piece Yosoy is odd, sometimes very loud, sometimes INSANELY quiet (a simple harp and man humming, with water running and a quiet dog barking in the background..)

Even though this band will never be on this site, it's worthy of a recommendation anywhere.


Actually, I would surprised if their were more than a few that actually know about Café Tacuba... except for mexican members, of course, and perhaps also other latin american ones. And yeah, for those ones, I wouldn't expect them to be very interested in the band. However, I might just give those ones a try.
