The Zappa/Vander option was the one I really found intriguing

Mind you, what if Bob Klose stayed in Pink Floyd as a rhythm guitarist?

Some fun options. It was a toss up between the tull option and the zappa/vander option but i went with the later because im sure that would just turn out incredibly awesome or just be a huge mess. LOL Either way, it would be interesting

What about a Zappa/ Fripp band, if they didn't kill each other would be interesting........

Was tempted by a singer-less Gen, but Gabriel was too cool.   Went with the Tull.

Despite some nice moments on GFTO thru Drama, the thought of Yes stopping at Relayer is a beautiful thing.  It would have saved much money, mediocrity, and heartache.

I don't wish harm upon anyone, much less the ever-endearing Wyatt, but are people really interested in a universe where Robert Wyatt doesn't go on to make Rock Bottom? VDGG needs no regular guitarist, very few groups can make a double album that maintains the quality of a single album, especially not Jethro Tull, and obviously nobody wants to see our beloved GG as 80's sellout pop stars.

Now that is a very interesting possibility.

I think TAAB is amazing and APP one of the best albums of all time, so Tull it is.
The VDGG, Soft Machine and ELP options are interesting.
Yes, Genesis and GG are worst case scenarios.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Of course I wish he'd never had his accident, but I like what Ratledge & Hopper did after he left, so that's not my choice

I'd say VdGG option.

All good scenarios except for the Relayer one. Mind you Household Objects had the potential to be the worst PF album ever... i.e. the first less than good done.

Zappa / Vander release Sheik Yer Destrutiw Kommandoh. And then You Are What Uduwudu. Lather is Kobaian for Lather so that will be ok.

*spits coffee on monitor*

Robert Wyatt did not leave Soft Machine(or had his accident)

what a heartless group... let me rephrase that

Robert Wyatt did not have his accident (or Soft Machine go from an interesting progressive band to some generic instrumental Jazz-rock group)

Oh, I think they could have worked together, but only for a very short time. On the contrary, I can hardly imagine the rational man that was Zappa working with Vander the lunatic : even the guys from Henry Cow had some hard times with Magma when they toured together...

Anyway, I voted for VdGG hiring a guitarist, but then I realised that if a song like "Killer" had guitar parts, VdGG may have sounded a bit like King Crimson in the same era.

Tull nearly had a double album with the amount of great material from the APP era, part of which was included on War Child.
