My favorite band of all time is Rush, always have been since I was young (which I still am) 

But most of the popular bands I like, Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa.

More recently I have been trying to get into more obscure albums that brought me here (like Caravan, Nektar, etc)

cool....  you do have a lot to learn and explore.  This is the place for it! It is where most of us that aren't old dried up husks and popping Viagra to get through life learned all the 'obscure' stuff. Have fun and don't be shy about jumping into the various threads here.
