Four acts with similar intension and flavours, imo yet distinct.

Incredible bass lines is noticable inn all four acts. Generly crisp sound and suprisimg twists and turns, fusion-friendly aspects.

Well 2 of those bands have great bass players. I like some tracks by all of them (except Kajagoogoo as I've only ever heard "Too Shy"). "Wouldn't it be good" is a classic.

Incidentally, who remembers Ellis Beggs and Howard. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis,_Beggs_%26_Howard). They made one good album and then more or less disappeared (although apparently have a second one available featuring Mr Fripp).

Tears For Fears, of course - The Hurting and Songs From The Big Chair rule all.

Too bloody true. Two of the greatest art pop albums of the 1980s, a decade that spawned quite a monster crop of good art pop albums.

Kajagoogoo, hands down. These guys had so much character and impressive chops to boot, especially Nick B.
White Feathers is a classic. Too Shy is a great song, among many.

4 extremely talented acts, but I don't consider Level 42 as new wave, rather popfunk or popfusion.
I love how Mark King and Nik Kershaw have similar voices.

I love all 4 four bands/acts, but Tears for Fears is more favorite.

Only 2 votes for the wonderful 'Goo. That's one more than I expected.
You have to listen to the extended version of Too Shy (the 'Midnight Mix' - yeah, dumb sub-title) and listen to the up-front Bass from Beggs - the first half is instrumental and Nick displays around a half-dozen techniques of playing bass - hammer-ons, slapping/popping, chords, mutes, trilling and then some. The keyboards have a lush arrangement too. Take Another View is a great track as well.
