Last year, Dungen released an album called Allas Sak. Now, they’ve announced a new release called Häxan on Mexican Summer. The album was inspired by their work on an original score to Lotte Reiniger’s 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed. The film is believed to be the oldest surviving full-length animated feature film. The album is an official Record Store Day/Black Friday release, so it’s out November 25. The first song from the record is called “Jakten genom Skogen.”

Billedresultat for dungen

Well this Dane is happy as a bunnyrabbit. New Dungen album automatically means good vibes and an increase in storks. Add to that, their last album Allas Sak was a real humdinger.

I can't wait for this one as I heavily spun Allas Sak ever since I bought the cd earlier this year, albeit a bit later than usual for one of my favorite newer bands!

Nice one. Can't really go wrong with Dungen. They have yet to release anything remotely close to a stinker...or maybe that's just the fanboy speaking. Then again I've been a fan of theirs since the debut came out in 2001.

I think they're even a better band live, which speaks to how good they are!!Embarrassed

Most definitely yes. I've seen them play 10 times or so and even with a massive hang over they managed to deliver something truly magnificent (I caught them the day after they'd done a gig in Amsterdam and they looked like 4 run-over turds).
Can't wait to see them on the next tour as they tend to pop by Denmark whenever they come out to play.

I am seriously thinking about giving the new tune a whirl even if I normally refrain from sneakpeeking. In the end I am going to buy this probably on release, so all the more reason to wait and be surprised.
It is hard though

These guys are playing in Melbourne in December, Dave....hadn't really given it much thought to going, though. I haven't heard any of their albums since their `4' one quite a few years back.

I've got just Allas Sak and 4. Should get more as I really like those. Any recommendations which to go for next?

I think I actually got into them after reading the guitarist in Wolf People raving about Reine Fisk's playing on 4. He wasn't wrong!

Tio Bitar man... get it ...learn it.. love it.  Reine was en fuego on that one.  Best Dungen album IMO there...

^ Yeah, Tio bitar would be a good next album to check out after Allas sak and 4. Their debut as well, IMO.

Great news about a new album from these guys! Recently finished a Dungen marathon, but could easily do with some more of this lovely stuff. Wink Thumbs Up

Not a dud in sight here, I agree, David, although I rank Stadsvandringar and Skit i alt just a little lower than the rest of their output.

Skit I Allt was too short. I missed getting the last album on vinyl
Anyone follow The Amazing ?? They kinda like a Folky Dungen. Anything FISKE touches is f**king GOLD. Been lovin' the latest Elephant9 album.
I've seen some live footage of the Dungen boys in action and dey on fire !! Relentless, rough and ready. Would be a great gig to see.

^ generally agreed .. here is how I'd rank them

Tio Bitar
Ta det Lugnt
IV

Skit i allt
Allas Sak
Stadsvandringar

not a bad one in the bunch though... and though I have man lust for Reine.. his hair and his talent with the Strat... it is the boundless eclectism of the group I adore.  I'd have to rate them my #1 favorite modern prog group.

Haven't checked them out yet, but a more folky Dungen sounds like just my thing, so I definitely will at some point.

Though they're both solid, I'm not that high on his albums with Motorpsycho, and his first with E9 also left something to be desired, I felt, but Silver Mountain's great, I agree.

Missed them when they came to Oslo the last time (last tour), but hopefully, with another album out, I'll get the chance to see them for the first time soon.

Couldn't find it at first, but after a bit of searching I realized it was that Kirwan song you posted. LOL

I'll check it out after snooker's done, and after I've wrapped up Surrealistic Pillow.
