for those who know Christian Vander only as drummer and singer of Magma and Offering here is a look at the other side of him: a recent (Nov 19th 2016) concert of his jazz quintet

the line-up is:

Christian Vander - drums
Laurent Fickelson - piano
Eric Prost - saxophones
Jean-Michel Couchet - saxophones
Emmanuel Grimonprez - acoustic bass

I love his two albums by his trio (65! and Jour Apres Jour). his drumming is really the focal point imo. I found this less so on the album I heard by his quartet (At Sunset, I think?) and as a result I didn't care for it as much. Didn't know he led a quintet, will watch the above video when I have the time.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
