Special noteworthy are: Smile

The great Yes-influenced debut CD. From the States.
Excellent debut album in vein of Genesis tradition (circa 1980 - 1991). From the UK.

The only 2017 album I've heard so far is the debut by This Winter Machine, a Neo-prog outfit from the north of England.  My first listen indicated this was a band of promise.  Not the most original or inspiring, but nicely played and well worth further listens.

I just scored me a super new Karda Estra INFERNAL SPHERES album, complete with a passel of horn players this time including bass clarinet and the mighty bass trombone. I think Richard will really be sounding out the abyssal depths with those and I'm, like, totally stoked.

And there will be at least two releases from Tusmørke, where one of them is an album for children. And my band Jordsjø will release three or four new tapes. So there is a lot going on in the vast forests of Norway these days...

Is there a new Wobbler album in the pipeline?  I'm a big Wobbler fan.  I like White Willow too.

Enjoying this at the moment, thanks for the tip. An excellent example of modern neo-prog.

I preordered Ayreon- The Source    The grapevine reports,  it's more guitar driven then past Ayreon albums.   I adore the Ayreon formula, however I'd like to see Ayreon progress beyond Arjen's comfort zone.

I'm looking forward to Barock Project's new album.    After the success of Skyline, BP aggressively shifted into overdrive, hightailing toward the checkered flag.    So, the lead singer bowed out, deciding to pursue other goals.
"Tiger Moth Tales" composer, lead singer, and multi-instrumentalist Pete Jones ( toured recently with Camel), co-wrote 3 songs and sings lead on two.  Meanwhile  keyboardist Luca Zabbini , pianist, and composer adds lead singer to his resume.

Can Steven Wilson keep the streak alive? I'm guessing he'll release his new album around Oct-Nov.

For several years in a row, an Italian band I've never heard of has seduced me.  Something's in the water besides gondolas.   It seems Italian bands are benefiting from record companies who aggressively promote, distribute, and support the local talent.   I'd like to see a resident RPI expert wax prosaically on the new Italian Wave.

PS- Crossing my fingers 2017 will  be the year Phideaux releases Infernal.

Now this is good news!
I just got their latest EP but haven't given it the proper attention just yet. I didn't think they are going to release the album so fast...
