My top contenders so far:
Pryapisme Dialeto Bubblemath The Physics House Band Maxophone On the Raw Djam Karet Based on the first single, Bent Knee will be on this list. Also, all but a select few metal releases have been exceptionally disappointing/irritating. And I am pretty much a metal guy. Also, also. On the subject of Ulver, just can's stomach it. If I am going to dive into a poppy guilty pleasure its going to be the new Todd Rundgren.

From Steven Wilson’s new album coming out in August:
Absolutely gorgeous. Almost surreal in a way. It just takes your mind and heart on an emotional journey.

Good music folks :)
I'm listening to Bartok in Rock too, it's really good and i hope that it grows even more on me. Unfortunatly this year was full of irritating and bland Post-Rock and post-metal stuff, hell, even some plain black metal music was more inventive than some of these bands, from the many that i've heard this year, only Pryapisme EXCELLENT album saves the genre this year really. And Korekyojinn Acoustic still the best album from this year for me.

As far as a massive reissue/boxset goes I'm really looking forward to grabbing Steven Wilson's tidy new remix of Marillion's Misplaced Childhood. :)
It's a 4disc box set that even contains a pure audio Blu-ray Disc of High res sources of the album. I just cannot wait!! Most excited about that one. It's out July 21st I believe. I've already preordered it of course. I think it's a must have. :) |

^Yes! Digging this at the moment. Raw and grungy but very exploratory.

Accordo dei Contrari and Dean Watson have bumped On the Raw as far as my favorite JRF selections of the year. ADC totally tickles my avant bone too.

I like the sound of the forthcoming album from Gaudi:
The guest list is quite intriguing: Bill Laswell, Steve Jansen, Colin Edwin, Pat Mastelotto, Jamie Saft, Roger Eno, Buckethead, etc. Edited by Mascodagama - June 11 2017 at 05:58 |

Combat Astronomy...wow! Not the complexity that I usually gravitate toward, but the vocals of Dalila Kayros are haunt-ilicious. With that humongous distorted bass sound, this is a full fledged Zeuhl album in my opinion.

Zu's Jhator is a favourite recent find.
Birth of A Ghost from Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is also pretty nice. Edited by Magnum Vaeltaja - June 16 2017 at 08:58 |
