When BJH hit the scene, they still had a lot of Beatles influences. Very noticeable on their debut LP.
But they were also one of the pioneers of mellotron-driven progrock. Although they were on the soft/romantic side of prog (like Moody Blues) the first 4 lps many consider to be true progrock albums.

The had their epic songs Dark Now My Sky, She Said, Summer Soldier, The Poet/After the Day. They made use of orchestra, wich cost so much, they had huge debts with their label and were eventually dropped from the Harvest-roster.

They had 3 vocalists. In the beginning mostly Woolly Wolstenholme, but later on more and more John Lees and Les Holroyd.

I was wondering wich of the 4 Harvest-lps is considered their best. My vote goes to And Other Short Stories.

First time I can recall this wonderful band getting a mention on here.

Once Again is very good, but so are the rest (mostly).
A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life.

Once Again is a true gem, indeed. But somehow I wanted to vote for the album containing The Poet/After the Day, wich is to me, the best prog-epic ever written.
