Hey all. After listening to about everything from the PA Top 200, I been looking for a new band to delve in that would meet most of these requirements:

- ELP-style furious hammond organ - not necessarily the soloing part but the riffs and overall nature of the songs relying alot on a sort of tricky hammond organ play.
- Minor key/dark rather than uplifting (think King Crimson instead of, say, Yes)
- Symphonic and structured rather than only jazzy and totally improvised - sure it can be jazzy at times but having nice chorus or verse from time to time is refreshing (think Tarkus)

Here's a few of my absolute favorites, to give a better idea: Änglagård Hybris, ELP Tarkus, King Crimson Red & ITCOTCK, Anekdoten Vemod.

I know that the Italian scene should be loaded with this stuff but somehow I've never got into that - if any of you know of Italian stuff that fits the criteria above, please let me know.

Tried Beardfish? Pretty sure they're on the top 200 and have good synth playing on the early middle albums. Definitely minor key stuff too. Also symphonic + structured and sometimes jazzy. Try Sleeping in Traffic part 2 and the Mammoth by them if you haven't.
Taal if you can find them on youtube or itunes or spotify are awesome. Skymind by them is a personal favourite.
The Mars Volta's first album.

^^ I'm going to be Mr Obvious and suggest Ys by Il Baletto di Bronzo. This should be smack in the middle of your area of interest, based on what you say. And it's a great, great album.

If you've gotten through the PA top 200, then I take it you already know Ys by Il Balletto Di Bronzo? That was the first thing that came to my mind, especially for the furious keyboards. I see that it's already been mentioned in this thread, too.

Here are some other ones that you may also be interested in:

Arachnoid - Arachnoid - Dark late 70's symphonic prog out of France that draws some King Crimson comparisons

Island - Pictures - You want dark music with busy keyboard (and saxophone) play? Look no further, this is one of the most morbid and complex albums there is.

Yes, I've listened to Ys by Il Balletto Di Bronzo but it was quite some while back, so I think I'm going to refresh my memory on that one. I'm going to check out some of the other recs asap.

Also, I'm surprised no-one has recommended Le Orme, from the little of them that I have heard, I thought they would certainly be in this category.

Not meeting all your guidelines, but I think the band Egg should be up your alley. Any of their first 3 albums should work, very much reminiscent of ELP except more sober (and much better imo). Hell, they even did a rock adaptation of "Fugue in D Minor" as did ELP.
"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

Par Lindh Project

Also, maybe Nexus.

Triumvirat were similar to ELP maybe try them too.

I also recommend some Swedish bands(aside from the aforementioned PLP) such as Anekdoten even though they don't have much in common with ELP. They did have a rather dark sound though.

Also, Nebelnest for the dark symphonic factor although they sound more similar to KC than ELP.

For the two-out-of-three I redacted above, give Myrath a try...

What about the THREE MONKS from Italy?
Rather church than hammond organ, but quite unique
