This is a total masterpiece of prog/rock ,every song very good the musicianship far beyond any expectations,the tracks THE RAVEN is electronic sounding , THE TELL TALE HEART which features arthur brown is excellent two absolutely standouts are THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO and THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER also the narration from orson wells is just icing on the cake, a definite to me a 10/10

The Wells narration from the '80's version of Tales' was an add on that ruined the original beginning for me. Also, I recall reading somewhere where Eddie Van Maalox was called in to play a solo over the original track of The Raven. Also ruinous, I'm afraid.

I really love this album too, my favourite from Alan Parsons. I ended up with the "upgraded" version when I bought the CD... those extra guitars on "The Raven" took some time to get used to, but now I just take them for granted.

love it.. not as much as I Robot.. but still a great album. One Raff has recently discovered it seems (was in my collection).. she has been listening to it a lot over the last year or so.

I love the intro (Dream Within A Dream) and the grandiose Usher thing on Side 2, the rest is listenable but nothing special. I prefer I Robot and Pyramid.

I love the album, I wish I could get the CD in its original LP mix without the added guitars/tracks. I think my favorite APP album is Pyramid, though. But really, I enjoy everything from Tales through Turn of a Friendly Card. Eye in the Sky is nostalgic for me too, but I felt like they were starting to lose the mojo with that one.

^ I did listen to the LP version first, and found it strange at first the added instruments when I got the CD. Indeed I didn't like those changes that much, but by now I got used to it, and don't really remember so well how the originals sounded... I wonder if perhaps now that I'm used to them I would miss those added things. However, after Eye in the Sky they did at least one more really great song in "La Sagrada Familia"... one of my very favourites from them. There were a few other good ones, but that is the one that really stands out for me.

Bought the original when it came out and enjoyed it (the packaging was indeed very good), but I preferred I Robot and Pyramids, where the 'project' really got their vision together. Good albums followed, but for me they never hit those heights again, despite many classic songs scattered over them.

Never really understood the love for this album. I've got the deluxe version and have tried listening to it a few things but nothing stands out to my ears. I guess I will persevere. At the moment Pyramid would be my favourite APP album but even that would barely scrape a 4 star rating in my eyes. Lots of good tracks though from Alan Parsons especially Eye In The Sky which might be the best 'stalker prog' ever written.

I agree. I Robust is better but this one is really good and at times raw
