In my opinion romantic music was the style that changed everything in terms of the former stated art form. It made music less formal, and more for everday consumption. It made music about emotions, and opened the doors for new composers to break the rules. Your opinion on this matter would be appreciated.

I don't agree at all. The popular modern music is horrendous nowadays.

The other underground scenes are more a product of (in very vague terms) prog, jazz, blues, metal, and just not pop or rap.

But the romantic movement? It definitely influenced many bands in the 80s, maybe even the 90s. The only guys I can see it having influenced today are the few who actually stick with the movement and concept. Hence the ones who make that same type of music.

Who would that even be I wonder?
