Does this mean Kraut rock prog disco suite meister "The future of music" Giorgio Moroder will be in PA? Donna Summer as prog related?

Or is that a little too progressive?

;)

Love disco-esque prog. arious mentions I love such as the Cos and I Robot.   Chrome Hoof is cool too.

Can't vote in the poll yet, as I don't recall either of those tracks, but I will check them out.

More jazz-funk than disco, but there are similarities:

How about Magma's Call From The Dark ??
BTW, never been much of an Oldfield fan, love Camel, and Summer Lightning is great to play along on the bass with Sinclair. Very tasty song, every element.

I don't particularly hate nor love either one of them. However, I've always leaned towards Camel as a band, so I chose them.

I remember reading that while Oldfield was in New York and recording the Platinum album and Guilty single, he also supposedly recorded a disco version of Tubular Bells (shudder), which has never seen the light of day.

There any many suggestions I never heard, but I'm quite curious about.

Totally agree Thumbs Up

There's nothing disco to Summer Lightning. Excellent groove (wich Saga and Rush uses a lot in the 80's). Steller guitarsolo and great vocals.
Also an excellent album.

Nothing wrong with a good disco song though. Actually Miss You is the only Rolling Stones song I really like....
And Earth Wind & Fire is very, very progressive.
I think there's plenty of Disco in it, without resorting to the obvious clichés, unlike "Guilty". I do enjoy the album more than the average progger as well, except for the last track, I think it's one of their absolutely worst.

I agree and I have some EW&F in my collection, which I spin occasionally.

I'm really tired of these Ermm

I think Part 3 is even more, it reminds me more specifically of Italo Disco.

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

I intended to suggest that as soon as I saw the thread title. Big smile

I can't participate in the poll, since I'm only familiar with Camel's first four albums. However, I dislike Guilty, so my vote would probably go to Summer Lightning.

Oldfield's Platinum Part 4 - North Style (which I actually like) recorded at the same time also has a disco beat.

To me, Tangerine Dream's Force Majeure has also has prog disco feel during the guitar, piano, drums section lasting between 4:20-6:40.
