Both are awesome songs.....I love Spirit because of the reggae beat. Limelight has a excellent lyrics, but Spirit is simply a feel good song and a fantastic live song to boot.

I voted to try and even the votes....coin toss.

I love Limelight, but The Spirit of Radio gets my vote as the opening still brings up the hairs on the back of my neck and transports me back to great times as a student. To hear my favourite band at the time on commercial radio alongside those New Wave bands was very satisfying.

Spirit of Radio have one of most incredible overtures of prog rock in all times, Limelight have a very difficult ( for execution) broken beat  after the first verses. My vote is Spirit of Radio by a nail

The Spirit of Radio
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

"Limelight"...easily. A classic riff, some of Neil's best lyrics, one of Alex's best solos (and his tone has never sounded better), and a truly riveting climactic outro!

You must be Jone-sing for a thread to drag out that FM whore Limelight.

The Spirit Of Radio is it. For some reason I've always liked it. Permanent Waves was my second LP I heard from Rush after 2112 (it was back in the '80th) and as TSOR is the opening song it was the first taste of this record. And I loved it then. And to some degree this feeling lasts over three decades :-)  Surely it isn't the best song in Rush's career but nevertheless. You can call it nostalgia maybe.
