Topic: Genesis Best SingleS? Posted: February 22 2017 at 03:06 |
Singles. The anathema to Prog! But Genesis had some great ones. I really love "Jesus He Knows Me". I did post in another thread I thought "Turn It On Again" was their best single. For sounding pop but also like stripped back "Back In NYC" Genesis. But I also love the lesser hits like "Keep It Dark".
You have more than one choice if you didn't notice! Sorry if this has been asked before.

'That's All' has a great Canterbury sounding keyboard solo but that's all...

That's All is a guilty pleasure. That one should have been their first #1 in the US, but missed it by peaking at #6. Harold the Barrel should have been released as a single. A Trick of the Tail didn't make the charts, but it should have. I never thought much of the singles from 1986 onward.

I know what I like and I know it isn't I Know What I Like. Awful song. Kinda surprised it has so many votes.

From the list Abacap... but there are quite a few singles that beat all listed ones by some distance: Knife - Watcher of the Skies - Entangled - Carpet Crawlers - Turn It On (Not a singles buyer myself, had to look 'em up.)

Some healthy omissions here. Where's Match Of The Day, Pigeons, and Inside And Out? Sure, those three were actually on an extended play album, but you know what I'm saying. By the way, Twilight Alehouse.
